Exposed in this unfair fight. That just went right through me. Life to me seems to be a fight and I honestly feel totally exposed. The enemy is evil one hundred percent. Very well written Thank You for Sharing. Best of wishes in all your endeavors

I have to say this was very cool to read. It was like I was there. I could hear the crowd. I saw the arena and the crowds waiting to smell the sweat and hear the cries. I loved the heightened drama you described and how it must have felt to wait before battle. To know that you will leave the arena either as a victor or dead. There were no other options. Great poem. An impassioned gladiatorial fight which builds throughout your evocative free verse to its tragic crescendo. Excellent illustrative detail and an impressive story for the contest. Well done, Kahlani, and good luck! Debbie

Very nice story told with your descriptive words. I see the battle clearly happening.
I often wondered how those in attendance could cheer and clap as they watched these bloody battles with usually no remorse for the loser. Such brutality that was once applauded.

This a brilliant poem that reminds me so much of the Gladiator movie, which I absolutely love and cannot wait to see Part two. You've captured the scenes so well here.
The tension, the sounds, the whole arena atmosphere. Well done and best of luck!
Best Wishes
Nicki

Hi
These five line stanzas seems to tell the story of the gladiators in the Colosseum. The stanzas look like limericks but don't follow the rhyme scheme one.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend

I wonder why man would use the death and destruction of life of his fellow men for public entertainment. Those where in the dark ages of history, though some fun killings may still be going on today in shadows. Thanks for sharing your story. Well done, and please keep them coming. Good luck in the contest.

a powerful recreation of the thrill of the ancient gladiator contests of ancient Rome. I can see and hear the thrill of the games in your excellent poem in traditional verse style.

This well composed poem caught my attention right from the start. I can almost imagine the tension, not only from the Gladiators in the arena but from the spectators as well. Well written.

You know how to use your words with excellence to paint the dreadful sport of the gladiators. It's very well done, Kahlani. I'm glad that came to an end and we moved on to far better sports...or at least I think.
