She's a real prayer veteran

This is an interesting and different way to write a birthday greeting to a mystery recipient. However, I knew immediately who you are writing about. She used to write birthday riddles each month for FanStorians with birthdays during the month. Plus, she has said many prayers for me. You did a fabulous job recognizing Veterans Day and a birthday.

Happy Birthday Helen.

Thank you, Sweet lady. She is very close to someone else who is near and dear to my heart. You! Yes, Helen wasn't sure she wanted much attention but she didn't turn me down when I said it would be fun to do a Veterans Day and birthday all in one. So that is why I had a little fun with this one.. it wasn't very long, but it was so Helen. Thanks Lorraine, for your sweet comments and for being someone else who I feel the same way for.
    Much love, Debi

This is gorgeous Debbie but I am bit rubbish at guessing games, as I have seen so many FS friends on here look out for each other and lift each other up I'm too new to know who you are specifically writing about. I hope not to offend!!!! I love the angle you took here it being veteran day and turning it around to this (obviously fabulous person) being a prayer veteran. Brilliant! Well done a wonderful tribute birthday poem.
Best Wishes
Nicki xoxo

No problem Nicki, as we wouldn't expect you to realize who it is for sure. But mostly of the veterans of FanStory knew it was Helen or Lyenochka.
I am sure you know her as she is there for everyone once she gets to know you and even if she doesn't she is a sweetheart. If you do not know her, you are missing something. She is a joy and a lovely woman.
Thanks so much, Sweetie. Love, Debi

I bet you have a clue, dear Roy. It is Helen. But like you said there are so many of us who ask for prayers. My biggest thrill is when I am up late and trying to get some thank yous out she will find me and tell me that I should be sleeping.

Well you know how I always say you remind me of my grandpa, well Helen has always remind me my mom. She is three years younger than me but she she scolds me in a loving way and tells me I need to get some sleep. That is why I wrote in the poem about get some sleep attack.

Thanks my dear friend. With lots of love, Debi

Helen, of course! A devout woman who is a prayer warrior for all. I, too, have gotten friendly admonitions to "get some rest" and I love her for her concern and heart. Helen is a special member of this family ~~ never anything but kind words for all. How perfectly fitting you'd honor her in this way. Very nice poem, aligning veterans of war with veterans of faith!

Absolutely right!!! LOL, have you ever had a "get some sleep" attack from Helen? She is as close to my mom as anyone I have ever known and yet she is three years younger than me. I love it and I love her. I couldn't resist asking her if I could do one even tho she didn't feel like a lot of attention, but she said they could guess and those who don't I am telling them who it is. I think she might be having a little fun with it too. So thanks a lot dear K, and good to see you here doing almost what you do best. Hope you get bitten by the writing bug again soon! Love ya so much, Debi

It is very much like Helen to SHINE the spotlight while preferring to avoid it herself. (smile)

Indeed I've gotten many a message about "Why are you up so late?" and I love that she is so concerned about everyone.

reply by the author on 12-Nov-2024
Yeah, well I had to make it fit into the theme and it rhymed with back. She loved it..

So when you get those messages do you ask her the same thing? However, from where you are to where she is, there is three hours difference. Here to there is two hours.

Oh, often I'm on reviewing at 3 AM my time and she is quite right that I should be getting some rest!

You are absolutely right, Verna. Yes, it is Helen. I wasn't doing any repeat poems for people who I did for last year because of all the new ones coming up this year. She has with me through every step of this blindness that I have been fighting for the last four months and I just thought it would be a fun mix of Veterans Day and her birthday. It was kind of last minute but it was fun.

I almost asked you if I could do another one for you, but up to yours there had been at least one every day for a week, so I just couldn't. Even tho you know how much you mean to me. So thanks so very much, my other sweet sister in Christ. Lotsa love to you! Debi

Well, I guess there might be someone who knows her name, but for those of us who don't, it appears we just have to say Happy Birthday, woman!
Heck, Happy Birthday to all the women in the world on their special day!
Thanks for sharing.

Sorry about that Ric! No, I will tell you. She was a little shy about the attention but we are telling people now because most are guessing. It was a little fun this way. I am just a big kid at heart and love the games, I guess. LOL..

Anyway it is Helen, Lyenochka. And I am sure you know Helen well, right?
Thanks for the birthday message to her and she will appreciate it too.
    Love, Debi

Yes, I know Helen well, and actually figured it might be her. I liked the little guessing game, but I also like knowing it's Helen's birthday. :-)

Your poetic tributes always fill me with a lovely warm feeling of bonhomie.
You have this ability to put into words and rhyme the essence of what makes a person special.

You named me, what does this woman have over you. Another great birthday greeting Debi. Were your family poor when you were born, couldn't they afford the second B? I'll now spend the day wondering who this unnamed celebrity might be.
I know who it's not about, my Mother-in-law. I call her the Old Dragon. To her face, but I'm running.

Bob, you are always so sweet! So, wonder no more. This poem was for Helen, (lyenochka) She is a saint.
So, you also had a mother in-law from hell? I used to call mine worse than that. Thanks so much Bob, as you always put. the biggest smile on my face,
    Love, Debi

Is she Helen? It sounds like her because she has almost everyone here as her friends. She is a very good prayer for people who need it. Please let me know so I can tell her Happy Birthday.

Thanks a lot for doing this for everyone here.

Excellent.

Haha, Lisa, well of course she is Helen, and so far about 75% are getting right. I am so glad that you feel the same way for our mutual friend. And how appropriate that she gets to share Veterans Day too. LOL. Thanks so much, my sweet friend for these kind words for Helen and for myself. Also for the lovely stars! Love, Debi
