Very nice story, Barb. We had a dog that was killed by a great dane. A couple that worked for me in the fish business had a litter of pups that they were trying to get rid of. They gave me two mix breeds - mostly collie. These were great dogs. They died after about fifteen years. We had them cremated, and their ashes have been on my workbench for over thirty years.

Many people take pleasure in owning a dog or multiple dogs. Owning one that shows a great deal of intelligence is an even bigger treat. I owned a terrier/poodle mix who was very, very intelligent. I was the first to discover his body and was shaken to my core, because I knew right away, you see whenever he would see me, he would lose his mind and jump all over me, which would always earn a stern scolding, mainly because I would be dressed for work and his jumping on me would sometimes mess up my clothes. He did not care and after a while neither did I.

Codi sounds like a wonderful dog and he was certainly well travelled! Cute dogs always attract attention and labradors are great family dogs. I enjoyed your story Barbara, you have some wonderful memories, love Dollly x

Aww. Thank you for sharing about Codi. I knew immediately the connection with Greg and Codi as the babe magnet since you started out the post recalling using his baby brother for the same purpose. I laughed about sharing the bed with Codi in Brian's absence. Fun memories. I still have my cat's ashes and keep it with a picture and her favorite toy.

Since this is my first time reading about this I learned that you love dogs. And thank your husband for his service and you as well since it affects you too. We had a dog at one time for only 12 years before he died, but he was literally the best. My husband and I put them in a huge black garbage bag and buried him in our backyard. When we moved, we took the stone we had made for him, but left him there. I did eventually tell the people that moved into the house when I saw her at the store one day about our animals in the backyard. That's funny that your son used the dog as a chick magnet. He probably innocently didn't know that that would happen at first. They definitely are when they are puppies, that's for sure.
I enjoyed reading. I did not read it with the thoughts of editing, so I didn't.

This is written and it flows very well and is read. I enjoyed very much listening to it. Your sentence structure your paragraph and your punctuation all make it so it is a very good story to listen to. Patricia.

Awwww, what a sweet post. I just fell in love with Codi right along with you. What a lovely addition to your family. I laughed when you said your husband said not to get a dog, because I knew that was exactly what you were going to do, lol. He should have, too.

You made me smile and cry. Great range of emotions in this story.

Hugs,
Rhonda

Harley is very friendly, everybody is his long lost best friend. He just continues to do interesting things, snitch food, chew Christmas packages, and chase one of our cats. The other one won't run so he's no fun to chase. He's also a barker.

That sounds like my pomeranians, especially the pop Oscar. He's 1/4 poodle and 3/4 Palm, but he managed to get the poodle hair. He is a little bugger. He's always making off with everybody's stuff and chew. Oh, my Lord and bark his fool face off. Yeah, maybe they are twins or something l o l
