I love that Mitch maintains his professionalism as a Police Officer here and does not succumb to Miranda's persuasion. You described a realistic situation here. I do think Miranda's instincts are correct though. When Waylon wakes up, all will be revealed.
You have some Gremlins at the beginning of your story Gretchen.
Just one edit here:
(The) guy who said enough trash to people . . . .
Another fine chapter in your story Gretchen, always enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Mitch just can't keep himself from allowing Miranda to see the photos of the wreckage. She has seen a lot that leaves more questions than answers. She just doesn't believe Dougie would kill the lecherous teacher, so she sets up in his hospital room waiting for him to regain consciousness.

You are up to speed, Carol. She seems to think that when Dougie awakens, he will tell her everything she needs to know. But will Dougie come out of it? Gretchen
Comment from Wendy G
While it certainly looks bad for Dougie, it is very possible he has been the victim of a set-up. Miranda knows him well enough to know what he would and wouldn't do. It's good that Mitch trusts her well enough to disappear for a few minutes - he respects her thoughts and insights. A fine chapter.

Gremlins in the word "eclairs" need editing out.

Gremlins indeed. They do not like french punctuations here on Fanstory. I think Mitch knew she was gonna pester him until he gave in. Lol. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. Gretchen

Lol. Yes, I'm sure he did. He knows her very well!

There's one thing I know about Miranda is she's as smart as her creator, and a has a natural way of rationalising things without her emotions interfering with the logical of deductive thought, I've gotten to know both of you over the years, well done, blessings Roy

Well done

Well, love does make a man do things he shouldn't. Also, the plot demands it. Good chapter, but does Waylon really need Dougie? And Dougie is human, but he is far from a good man. At least from the stories when been shown. Him helping a stranger in need???
I have a huge bag of donuts, {eclairs,} bear claws and a jug of coffee for them.

Thank you so much, Lancellot. The computer gremlins destroyed my fine french pastry. Lol. I appreciate this encouraging review. Gretchen

Even if you are sick to death of me always telling you what a great author you are - and it does NOT matter what book, either; you're great at them all - I will not stop.
This seems like such a cut-and-dried chapter, and yet it's full of so much really good "stuff," not the least of which is Mitch and Miranda's relationship. I love how totally they "get" each other and appreciate their level of trust and mutual respect. I loved that scene with the two of them. Perfect and brilliant. GW Hargis at her absolute best.
I love how you're getting our wheels turning as you explain the scene of the accident through Miranda's eyes. And I love how she is THE most fair and forgiving and understanding person around. She knows Dougie for who he is, she remembers what he did to her (and Waylon), yet she is true to her instincts and giving him the benefit of the doubt. She is definitely WAY more woman that I would ever be, and for that reason, I respect and admire and adore her. She's just got that irresistible 'something' that everyone likes.
A couple teeny spags, Miss Talent:
1.) There are gremlins before the word 'eclair.'
2.) Because I know each and every (space) one of these wonderful law enforcement officers
3.) Jack(no space)ass [it's in here twice this way.]
Another super duper chapter...from the author who knows no other way to write!!

Awe, thank you so much, Rachelle. I'm glad you are still in the running with Miranda. I have fun with the scenes between Mitch and Miranda. He's so practical and she comes out guns ablazing. Appreciate your compliments too. Gretchen

They are yin and yang, so it works. He respects her judgments and assessments, though, even though she is impetuous. That's why I'm crazy about him.
Comment from Sandra Stoner-Mitchell
Dougie is lucky to have Miranda on his side, because no one else is. Apart from Waylon. That was sweet of Mitch, he loves Miranda, and it must have been hard to find her fighting for Dougie. But he also knows Miranda loves him, and knows she'd never go back to her Waylon's dad. As much as he wants her to. Great chapter, Gretchen, now to wait for the next one. :)) Warmest hugs, Sandra xxx

I'm glad Mitch shared information with Miranda. I am glad she's thinking things through. I really like this story.
It's unethical and I really don't want you butting into our investigation. (comma after 'unethical' you switched subjects)

Progress.
...and the woman was this man's husband. - this man's 'wife'?
Except for the husband/wife confusion, it's error-free as near as I can tell.
Best wishes.
