Alas, the people's memories are short. They will, indeed, fall back into that which caused any war, for they are too certain they have conquered evil forever.
They do not realize, evil hides in the shadows, but never dies. It lurks, waiting for the fools to make the same mistakes, and to plunge our youth back into war.
Beautiful and sad tribute to our military, but a sad commentary on those for whom they fight.

I like it, this is very touching. I can picture you having a military background or being close to someone who does. I have a military background as well, and can earnestly say this was my favorite poem so far today, and the only six star I've givin in a long time. I hope you take the time to read mine some day.

Good combination of free verse with somewhat somber and ponderous pacing--it's highly appropriate to the subject matter and of course appropriate for Veteran's Day too.

This is an excellent poem about dead soldiers asking if their sacrifice had been in vain - if people had not learned from the mistakes of their ancestors.
I enjoyed this post and couldn't find anything to criticize.
