Great job on this Deepwater. For anyone who grew up on the farm and even remotely has been connected to the ranching life or farming should appreciate this poem. Best of success with your continued writing...Gideon

I love this poem. It is wonderfully written and also makes me reflect. We always seem start to start out with the best of intentions and somewhere along the way lose what makes us. When we realize that, sometimes a real pity.
Thank you for this read! TexAnn

Sometimes the choices are tough. We have to do what makes us happy in spirit, not with just the heart.
Excellent artwork to compliment an excellent poem.........jim

I love cowboys, as they are so misunderstood, I think. Especially the mature ones, who have a few years under their belts and have seen so much. They are wise and have much to teach others, on this pathway we call life. Well done and thanks for posting.

Just had a quick zip through the others to catch up. You are certainly working it out of your system, Gary, with this. Good for you. Pat.

With rather simplistic language, deceptively so, you manage to come up with a really interesting poem. I dig your style of telling a story through the medium of poetry. Keep it up.

Hi Deep Water,
Your well written poem resonated with me. I have known many old cowboys... in fact, my father was one of them.
In my experience, old cowboys are truly a part of the sod.
Tastes differ but one is what one is... some things just don't want to be changed. Congratulations on expressing your thoughts so vividly. This is fine writing.
Cheers, W ^-^
