Really sad but true-to-the-heart rondeau. Everytime I see a tragedy on the news of this caliber, my heart goes out to the parents. No one should bury their child. You captured the sadness perfectly, with a very applicable title.

Beautifully created...I enjoy how the stanza's compliment each other...you provide the metaphor and then the relation to the theme behind it...well done...well penned.

I am very impressed with the craftsmanship of this rondeau-- a format that gives me fits when I try to write one.
I like how stanza 1 focuses literally on how plants are affected by early frost and introduces the metaphor of young lives. The photo compliments this part of your poem perfectly.
The last two stanzas paint a poignant scene too often played out all across the country. The young victims and their loved ones. The refrain at the end of both stanzas hits home powerfully. very well done!

This is a lovely rondeau but a sad one. I like your use of an early frost - good use of metaphor. You leave me wondering and I looked for author notes, but none. A tragedy is obvious and I find myself wondering who Poppi was. A lovely though sad read. I love the picture of the echinacea frosted. Regards Dorothy

Poppi is the daughter of friends, tragically killed earlier this year.

A gorgeous poem, about an un-gorgeous topic, Steve.
The rondeau is such a picturesque form .... courtly, evocative.
I love the stark, bald line ... an early frost.
Being an avid gardener, I know what such an untimely frost can do to tender blooms.
Sorry about the loss in your life - was Poppi someone significant?
Beautifully done, my friend. :)

Congratulations on a hard-hitting verse about the fruits of a car crash, and its impact on families of the young victims. You have written it well, and I am certain it will touch many readers.

This is a sad poem, that makes me sit here and ponder about life and death, and how one little mishap can change for so many people. Thanks.

It'd be remiss to pass up this one. Excellent form and content for the rondeau. Only hope this does not relate to a personal tragedy. Kenny

Oh wow, I wish I had a six for this piece. Now this piece is written by a person that is truly a poet, poet's see things in unique ways that make the impact of a truth when someone reads their piece. This would be an awesome poem to send to MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving). Great job. God loves you and I do too.

It is a beautifully penned rondeau but with sad content.
It certainly is a tragedy when it happens to the families and is very common thing that happens all over the world.
You have carved out the pain so well.
