A good story in a poem, Kay, with good historical information. What a strong person this nurse was. Sorry to hear that she lost the soldier. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Wow that is so brutal to realise what some of our servicemen went through. Was she the only survivor? Sounds like she was. How awful killing all those men begging for help. War sucks.
Regards, Jen

Hello Jen, She was the sole survivor of the shooting, some of her nurses were captured and she spent the years in POW camp with them. Thanks for reading. Cheers, Kay.

A great poem along with a great picture, to give tribute to women in the war. Many times the women nurses and women in general are forgotten when talking about the war, and that's really too bad.

Is this the real picture of Vivian? This is a story which is meant to touch other people's hearts and it has done just that with mine. She was a brave woman. Though dead, I salute her. The story is well written.

Great testimony to the bravery of this woman whom I would never have heard about except for your well written ode to her courage. Well done, mate!

Dear Aussie,
Nurses brave, tried to help the men. The Japanese gave no quarter or mercy. The Pacific War was terrible indeed but also demonstrated the valor of those who fought the Japanese as your pome so aptly states.
Warm regards,
Winslow
