It is a good thing to add memories with the old. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

What a great story - I like the way
you told it in this poem. You're so lucky
to have been able to hold on to the property
and then to move back in to it with all those
memories must be so satisfying.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

We have lived at our current address since 1977, our daughters lived here till the day they were married, when we mention we should sell and move to a smaller place they protest vehemently saying " but we grew up here", so I relate to this work! Well written, nice flow with good imagery! Nice rhyme, scheme with even meter! Well done, blessings, Roy.

Thanks Roy for your excellent review, I appreciate it. I can understand how your daughters must feel, but I suppose finding a smaller place would be your final decision. I'm sure they would understand once they realized it would be the best thing for you and your wife. Take care. Bill

Sweet journey of going back home again. There is a lot to be said for finding your place and making it your own. There is a kind of security and contentment found in that. It just fits.

... and writing could very well be your third smartest :O)

With so many apartments & condos today and people moving away, the 'old homestead' seems to be something from days gone by.. It's great that you came back to breathe new life into it, so that you can pass on the heritage.

47 years ? WOW ! don't hear of that too often these day.

Very good rhymes & flow

Our home is full of life once more
and never again will it stand alone
That old saying is certainly true,
"there is no place like home."
Amen to that !! There IS no place like HOME

Best of luck in the contest
:) Dame

Thank you so much Dame (like that name) for your nice comments and excellent review, I appreciate it. With reviews like this one, it won't take you long to be at the top of the list. Also, possibly win some money. The site gives out a $100.00 gift card each month for the top reviewer. Thanks again my friend and welcome to this site. Bill

How wonderful that you have the opportunity to live in your grandfather's house. Wow - 100 years old - what charm it must have. Did you say you are remarrying your wife? Assuming it's for the ceremony. Hugs, Lou

Thank you Lou for your excellent review and for your excellent idea about saying our vows over again. I know she would in a flash, but I don't know if I would have the nerve. You know how men are when it come to that stuff (ha). Have a great day my friend. Bill

Thank you Jenny for your nice comments, I really appreciate it. Good for your Dad. You just don't see things like that anymore. As I said in my notes, it was the second best decision I've ever made. Have a great day my friend. Bill

This is a very good, heart-warming poem and a true story. It is lovely that you now live in the house your Grandpa built after it had stood empty for some time. A deserted house is a sad place and now you have occupied it again. You must feel both happy and satisfied. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy
