The words are so powerful and paint the picture in our minds. I love the way you leave the message up to our own interpretation, to me (and I'm NOT a poet) that is the sign of a good poem when it leaves you asking questions.

Thank you for this

This is very touching poem.
Losing someone close to you is heartbreaking but to lose someone in war needlessly is horrific.
The picture you chose is a wonderful compliment to your words. Rubylou

This is such a deep, touching poem
that pulls at the heart-strings -
my heart and prayers go out to all
the men & women who fight so bravely
and to their families.
the words flow smoothly until the line:
Six of my brothers carry me forward, my resting place,--
it's not just the syllable count, (14) but the word
"forward" seemed to spoil the flow.
Perhaps you might consider:
Six brothers carry me on to my resting place. - just a thought.

This is a sad poem about the loss of a hero from the hero's perspective. It is always sad when a soldier dies and each one should be remembered for his service. The memory should never be wiped away by the tide. It seems the cross in the picture keeps back the tide which is the way it should be. If we truly remembered the lasting effects of war maybe we would have less of it.
The repetition strengthen the emotion and images in this well rhymed poem.

Excellent picture and message showing how the moon in the darkness is the linking point between the ending day and the next beginning day. The picture especially was very inspirational. Good job.

The emotional connection was so strong for me with this piece. We have lost so much treasure in these past 13 years and I am weary of it. My son is currently deployed and I practically count the days until he will be stateside. Thank you for sharing this moving piece.

good night of life says hello and the bright stars reflects the dark blue sky. There is no perfect artwork for this piece of work from the author. So heartbreaking and true. Great job.
"Reflect on this life, the tears and the joy,
The heart of this soldier, it's time to deploy,
Slow was the breath as I wait on God's grace,
Six of my brothers carry me forward, my resting place,"
Refreshing and well-deserving of recognition.
