Through the eyes of a child everything is much more free and easy. And sweets are always more important than anything else.
I like the monorhyme and internal rhyme mixture in this poem.

And that sums up a lovely day at the beach, with a child and his parents. What more could a little boy ask for?
Ice cream perhaps. ;-)
Well done, Carolyn

A wonderful piece full of innocent messages, we have lost so much in the last 40 years, the days of picnics, swimming, building sand castles etc. We have turned into tanning, texting and taking on boyfriends at the shore. Loving the photo too, so evocative, thanks for sharing.

It is great to relive childhood in poetry. This does it. I write in a different style and I do not want to bend you to my style. I think it is just right. It made me remember my own childhood days by the sea. Thanks....Poet Q

This poem makes me want to be six years old again at the beach with my parents. I loved the feel of innocence and remembering a simple time that was carefree and full of goodness. Thank you for sharing it.

some of my favorite pictures of my kids, are them sitting in their swimsuits with an ice cream melting down their faces. It's those simple messy pleasures in life that many miss, because they are scared of the mess.

This is a lovely poem, deepwater, filled with imagery of what sound like beautiful memories of childhood. The black and white photo complements the poem well. I especially liked
"Long hot summers on a beach with warm winds blowing off the sea.
Gulls fly high on the wing, all are looking down at me calling can you see?" (perhaps add comma after "calling")
Nice finishing line too that sums of the enjoyment of the day
"Soft white sheets on my bed as I drift off to see the wonders, so free"
I'd say this must evoke lovely memories of days by the sea in us all. It certainly did me :) Thanks for sharing!
God bless, Christine
