This is an enjoyable read and easy to digest. You did a great job with it. I hope it turns into a contender becaus it really describes a guy trying to get over a lost love. I didn't spot any typos and it needs no revision. Good luck and god bless! Jim

Truly I enjoyed the poem, not in the way of celebration, but beneath all the talk of drinks and boastful expression, there is an underlying element of pathos. That just goes to show that what is lost is lost and is truly unbearable.

This is a very good entry into the contest. A typical way to try to forget by using the bottle of booze. It may help for a time but reality has to set in some time. It is very well written and the image goes well with it. I wish you the best of luck

Huh - as I read this, I immediately knew these had to be lyrics (although I hadn't checked again - bad habit of mine). Well done, especially that repeat line - "set 'em up, slam 'em back, and forget you once again." - I see this dude and I can almost 'hear' the music.

I enjoyed reading these lyrics. I think this is a universal theme that many will relate to. My favorite lines are: "I toast another lonely night out here on the town.
It kills the pain and helps shoot your memory down."
In a sense the speaker is celebrating her leaving and in another sense he is drowning the pain. I love those concepts being woven throughout the lyrics. I am assuming these are lyrics for a country song as it has all the necessary elements. Thanks for sharing! I hope to read more from you.

I probably shouldn't review this one since I detest alcohol and don't see the humor at all in "celebrating" a partner's abandonment by repeatedly getting drunk. Still, there are a hell of a lot of people who handle their pain this way and you certainly made that point on their behalf.
