WOW! You really did it this time man!! This could be a country song hit?? Can you sing? Man put this hesrtbreaking, beautifully versed, well illustrated poem in a song. Get you a guitar and rock yourself to be a millionaire. I'm in love with this song. Full of love, desire, and love lost. Drinking away your sorrows is a deliciously repeated refrain!!liberty justice

This is a nice "get drunk and to hell with y'all" type song that we all especially like. I was a drinker once and love those hard-chuggin' songs.

I'm fairly sure that anyone who has lived long enough has filled this way at some point in their life. I know I have.
I like how you say at the bottom it gets lonely. It makes me think of drinking an entire bottle and getting lost in it.

Great lyrics for a song. Trying to drown away the misery of a love that isn't shared. She loves someone else. A bitter pill to swallow for sure.

Shoot ya. Back in my party days (young, oh so young) . I would get drunk and cry my eyes out over some jerk (being nice) for leading me on and breaking my heart. Thank goodness I found something else to do (theatre) and met a real nice guy who ended up being my hubby. But I still remember all those tears in my beers. Great poem and good country song.

Picture perfect...picture and the story in the song.
Nicely done. flow is easy, no glitch to mar the reading.
...ain't got far to go."

you are a very good song writer my friend. Maybe you need to hook up with some of those in Nashville. My son has his own recording studio. He is going to record me whenever I feel like doing it. Great job. Great wording. I would buy the CD. hugs, Teri

HI Brett ...
As you can probably tell from my screen name, I am a professional songwriter. In these lyrics you have the basis of a really good country song. It does a good job of bridging the gap between traditional country and contemporary country ... depending, of course, on the music you put with it.
Good stuff. I liked it a lot. Good luck to you with it!

It would have to be Traditional, kind of in the George Jones mode. Glad you enjoyed these lyrics. Your comments and support appreciated.

Long song, buddy.
However, I couldn't agree more with what you stated in your lyrical composition. Sometimes life deals us a crappy hand and we're forced to make the best of it.
What the hell else can we do?

I added the multi-line refrain between verses.
Some people have asked me to format my lyrics that way.
Glad you enjoyed them.
Have not written any new ones lately though.
That recent meeting I had with my friend Sergeant Donaldson, I posted about in He Did What He Had To Do, has inspired a new set of them to be written soon.
What's new in your world, my friend?

You're very welcome, Brett.
I keep banging away like we all do, hoping for a masterpiece, lol. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. I guess it's just in our blood, eh?

If only we could write a masterpiece. What a different world it would be!

We simply have to remain vigilant, don't we, Brett? We'll never know unless we put forth the effort and try. And those who are kind enough and considerate enough to read our work--for me, Evilynne, Gypsy Blue Rose, Domino 2, and I am Cat are those who remain so loyal and helpful--should never be taken lightly.

Wonderful write Brett. It is full or pain and hopelessness. Too many have been driven to drinking to numb life's sorrows.
This was a powerful song.
