A very well-written encouraging and inspirational poem. It doesn't matter what the circumstances is, we can still have hope and know that God will not leave us alone.

I love that song, 'His Eye is on the Sparrow.' This is so beautiful Miss Portia, and just like you, to be thinking, and asking blessings for others. I ask God to bless, and be with YOU this week. Loved this, go with God....

Today I choose to think about friends. I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun. Thanks for a poem that makes me think.

Friends are a blessing to have in one's life. God will place a friend in your life who is closer than a brother, I am glad you can reflect on the joy of having some wonderful friend as a part of your life. Thank you for your review and comments...Blessings...Portia

And who could have said this better, so soft in every touch that the genuine of feelings and sentiments pour forth from a heart that knows only this way, a heart that has learned the relevance of life and a God she revolves her life around, and of thus a result of which we read and partake.
Genuine is the word, and each segment fits perfectly in its delivery...calm, hopeful, and blessed.
Bravo, dear Portia.
Best wishes.
Have a beautiful Sunday.

Roy,
Thank you for placing a smile back on my face, all was going well until I received a review giving me a two star rating, first ever. Give it a read when you get a chance.
I know you are truthful in all you do and say, so thank you so much for making my day, with your review and very kind and uplifting comments. How blessed I am to have you as a friend. Thanks also for the six star rating. Blessings and lots of love...Portia

Hi, dearest Portia. I looked for that review but can't see it. I never look at reviews before giving mine as not to be influenced, only by the write itself. Later I usually take a look through yours as of now and happy to see many six stars, for that makes my day. I am not sure, but I think you have about 10 sixes out of 24 reviews so you would be up around 40% which is in good teritory, and if continue on sixes you would be up in POM teritory, which would silence the two star, and whatever reasoning behind...but, you just thank for the review, brush it off, for you have strength in depth around you. You are genuine in word and deed, No rock can move that.
Maybe the review has been taken away by Tom...I can't find it.
A good presentation Portia.
My best ,
Stay focussed and happy. God to see your post do well.
Bravo.

What a beautiful way to start my day - decided to read some poems before heading off for work on a Monday morn. And yours was outstanding. Our minds are filled with such sad images in the course of a day - images we may try to block out. But they are there, surfacing now and then. And you have eloquently described them in your poem. In the end, it is only God who can fix it all - but prayer certainly can help those who are afflicted - and those of us who witness the pain. Thank you for sharing.

Thank You Portia for this Beautiful Writing.
This Writing of Compassion and Caring came from the Heart and Soul of a Passionate Individual...One who Knows the Experiences and Reality of Life's Existence.
No one will know but you as I say..."Today I Sang for Maya"...It Gave Me Great Joy as it soothed a few Weary Souls.
I was Looking for Something to Cap Off a Beautiful and Spiritual Day.
I Was Not Disappointed.
Thank You Portia...Very Well Done...Q.T...Phil.

This is a beautiful meditation poem from a beautiful heart! I love the repetition of "today" the only day we have to act and pray. I love the looking outward with compassion for those suffering and the looking upward to God to help.

Hello Portia
Reading your very well versed poem to me shows you have a natural poetic voice of how you care of others and the despair they are in need of care and praying Gods watching over them.

Ah, Portia, this is such a beautiful poem! It was, in fact, like a song as I read, beautiful lyrics that I could 'hear' accompanied by a melody far away...truly inspired, I think. So worthy of the very best rating FanStory will allow!

Dawn,
Thanks so much for such an outstanding review, you have made my day. Your review, very kind comments and six star rating are greatly appreciating. The last two lines in quotation marks are from a song called "His eye is on the Sparrow." I think I need to reference this in my authors notes.
Thanks so much for your kindness. Blessings....Portia

I know it well; a hymn I love and have used to accompany more than one of my own poems. In fact, I will look one of them up - be back shortly (with the song video too, or one version of it).
-
It's one of my favorite songs that I am asked to sing in Church. Thank you my dear friend!
-
"Sparrows" - chapter 22 of the book, Dawn's Favorite Poems, Vol. 2 (It's fairly deep inside my portfolio, but if you want to read it, click on books and you'll find it quicker. *smile*)
And now, here's the hymn with it -
-
I forgot - I think that version is instrumental only - I'll go to YouTube and find another one for you. Back shortly. :)
-
Dawn,
Thanks Dawn, this is the very same video I used to help me to learn the lyrics and to be able to sing this song in church.
I come from a family of singers. I never thought I would be able to sing this song. Its a hard song to sing, but after practicing for many hours, I finally managed to sing it and bless others and without music.
I am not sure if there will ever be another Whitney Houston, she was a very talented, gifted and beautiful woman with an amazing voice.
Thanks Dawn, you are a sweetheart.
Much love my friend...Portia

Much love back, and yes, Whitney Houston was SO talented, such a joy!
I am glad you were pleased with the video, and envy you your singing. I used to sing too...a long time ago, and for my church too...*sigh*. Long story, but these days my voice is akin to the croaking of a frog with something stuck in its throat. LOL.
