Hello, there's a lot of wisdom in this poem, and pride does go before the fall. I guess you are talking about the assassination of Julius Caesar. A great Roman and someone that has always interested me. I love Rome and read a lot about it. Such a wonderful civilization before it's time and we still have remnants of it within our cultures today. Nicely written poem and I loved the picture. Thanks for sharing your writing, which was a pleasure to read and review, Ana.

Have you ever thought as artists, we must be very brave? We pour our hearts into our art and then throw it out for people to criticize or praise. Does that mean we are not humble? After all, we take pride in our work. If we miscalculate and think our poem is really good and then there are few reviews and they do not say much. That may be the fall after the pride. Because if we become humble and learn from what was said, and improve the poem, the fall will not occur. Pride is OK. But, humility must accompany it or there could be a fall. You said it well. Thank you for sharing

If people want to take out their daggers, I'd prefer they shred my poem than my flesh :)
Many thanks for the thoughtful review. And by the way, I agree. Sometimes I think I've produced a "masterpiece", and the "audience" doesn't agree with me. In such case, there's no point arguing with the judges! And (I hope) I'm always keen to receive constructive criticism.

By 60 of his closest friends? This had no friends, only subjects and acquaintances. Friends do not murder friends. And yes, you may use that anywhere you like. LOL! As bad as the USA is today, ancient Rome was ten times worse. :)
