A lovely poem about childhood which reminded me of my bonfire nights in Yorkshire on Guy Fawkes night. You're also right about children - they should be outside playing in nature and being creative outdoors than indoors with Nintendo and associates.

Thanks very much for the kind and understanding review. We used to have ours on the Queen's Birthday - for what reason, I don't know. Cheers, Craig

Perhaps to emphasize that Her Majesty's a pretty hot and bright girl, LOL!

This is a great poem that also reminded me of my childhood. If we sometimes look back at our childhood we will strengthen our present life with some of the wisdom we learned as a child.

We Brits call it bonfire night which obviously originates from November 5th when guy fawkes tried to set fire to the Houses of Parliament. It is an excuse to light a fire and watch fireworks and eat warm food. Your poem is atmospheric with descriptions that take me to the scene, great rhymes too, love Dolly x

Thanks very much for the lovely review, Dolly. Here, cracker night was always on the Queen's birthday holiday, which oddly, is a different time every year. Cheers, Craig

Terrific piece, Craig, both in meaning and style. It's true here, too. Kids don't play outside anymore, having more fun inside with a laptop. I don't think it's healthy for the new generation, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks very much, Phyllis, for the lovely review and rating. Idon't think there's much doubt it's not healthy. One only has to look at childhood obesity rates. Cheers, Craig

Imagine children enjoying being children!
Tearing their eyes from a screen....
Setting their thumbs on something not a keyboard!
How fine a world it would be if we could reintroduce the fine art of laughter and face to face conversation...
Of bon fires and being a wee bit wild as a child!
I love this poem...
I wish it true please!
