Hello CDR
Another good effort in my continuing education. This time with a message which I doubt if any of us could deny:.
I recall an Ozzie band named "Skyhooks" if I am not mistaken - they had an album in the 70's with a track "horror movie" which ended with the revelation that the horror movie on the TV was "the 6-30 news".
Not much changes except perhaps our shock threshold.
Hmm, "wamble-cropped", not such a bad name for a band either.
I enjoy these pieces - and I do read them all.
Cheers
phill

Thanks so much for the great comments, Phil. Skyhooks was an iconic band. Didn't they rock the boat and upset some mums & dads? They seem pretty tame by today's standards. Most grateful, Craig

Your poem is current with what the world is doing, Craig. will it implode our abode. I love those 2 lines. You did a great job with the rhyme, smooth flow, & meter. But it is your message that stands out in a scary way. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Good afternoon, Craig

I think many of us have a 'wample-cropped' feeling in our stomachs the last few years or so. The future looks somewhat murderous for one and all :(

Love this...'The cabinet of linguistic curiosities.' How wonderfully descriptive!

Great word :)

I also love these...

Poppycock
Codswallop
Fandangles
Mugwumps :)

kind regards

trimple

Haha, yep. I've heard them all, though I couldn't begin to guess at their origins. The first two are pretty much synonyms, and mean "balderdash" -- oops, there's another one. I believe. Fandangles might be "fancy, ostentatious ornaments" -- or not lol. Mugwumps, no real memory of what it means. Silly people? At least I didn't cheat and go for the dictionary lol

    :)

Mugwumps' are those of us that have no political affiliation :)

    Ohhhh, so it's a synonym for "sensible" I was 113% wrong. ;-)

    And Fandangles' ermmm...

I can imagine my great-grandmother saying for example...

You and all your fandangled ideas...

So I think it refers to new things/modern ideas. {without looking up the dictionary lol

Guess-what? It's another of those words whose spelling is so much longer than probably necessary ... but this one makes up for it because it's so freaking FUN!! Who wouldn't want to hear a nurse in the office ask you, "So, are you feeling wamble-cropped?" !! Can you imagine the patient's face?!!

Thanx for the laugh, sir, and have a wonderful week! :) Yvette
