In Alabama, we eat coleslaw. I bet the word stems from colewort. You are just a fount of knowledge. Are you a vegetarian? Something that you said in an earlier post made me think so. I'm almost a vegetarian, and I eat lots of colewort.

Colewart is very good for you, so good choice there, Debbie. Yes, I'm a vegetarian. Many thanks, Craig

I was JUST thinking about cabbage today - and the word for the group of vegetables it's in (but I was thinking of colewort's linguistic cousin, "cruciferous"). I love cabbage, but the other colewort vegetables are mediocre, in my opinion.

Great little poem teaching us another new word - thanks Craig!

Chinese cabbage, or bok choy, is my favourite of them all, so we seem to share similar tastes there. Thanks for reviewing :) Cheers, Craig

Think I'm the only one in the family that really likes brussel sprouts...used to serve them one in a while when the boys were young just so they'd have a little practice eating something they didn't like! :) :)

Thank you for sharing! :) Yvette

Haha, I think my mother had the same philosophy when I was a kid. Thankfully, I appreciate my greens a bit more now. Cheers, Craig

Hello again
Another excellent piece for accuracy and information! I believe there is a sentiment among scientists that organic microbial life may well have first originated on Mars and transferred to Earth though some cosmic exchange of debris. This is not a new theory for me as, since a child, I have always instinctively suspected that Brussels Sprouts were not of this Earth and must be returned en masse to the galaxy far,far away form whence they came.
Only now do I realize that I set too narrow a target - it is, in fact, all colewort we need to round up, and soon, before the Green Menace does further damage to growing children.
A great 5-7-5 and another good addition to your series.
cheers: I wish you well
phill

Now, now; it doesn't pay to be dissin' on the vegetables. Sometimes they even get elected to public office. Nevertheless, I enjoyed your humorous comments. I'll just bet you're a closet broccoli muncher! Cheers, Craig

    Hello Craig
I have been a vegetarian for 45-years - still can't get a Brussels Sprout to stay down!
    cheers

Far out, Brussels Sprout! Cows and cabbages and things sounds like something out of Alice in Wonderland. In my son's view, the only good wort is a brewing wort extracted from a whiskey mash. Personally, I don't mind the occasional colewort though.

I'd rather cabbage or broccoli or cauliflower than sprouts, but my other half goes nuts over them. Many thanks, Tony.

Hi Craig. Made me think of cole slaw. Probably cauliflower is in that family as well. All gassy. Lol. This was a fun read. The cole kind of gave it away. Thank you for sharing

Hello, I love this food group, I can eat a whole bowl of sprouts with butter and salt, just delicious I liked today's word, and the poem you have managed to write around it. NO errors and no suggestions for improvement. It is a well-written poem I found a pleasure to read and review, Ana

Hi Ana. My other half loves them like that. I'm not quite so fond of the sprouts, but I'm coming around :) Many thanks for the kind words. Craig

A very well-written poem about a kinder diet. I thought at first you have the great answer that most of us need in our diet. To eat what we like without gaining too much weight.
