Been there done that. To have never seen the lights you did good. When you do get there trust me you will not be disappointed. They are simply amazing!
I have been blessed to have seen the sun rise in the Far East and set on the Western plains. God made a wonderful world with much to see. So go, catch the beauty of the lights and enjoy its wonderful display.
Thanks for sharing keep writing and reading and reviewing.

Thanks very much for the kind words. I hope to see them one day, though it's more likely I'll travel south to view them, as it's much closer for me. Still, perhaps I'll make it back to Alaska one day, and I'd love to see Canada too. Cheers, Craig

The poem makes me feel that you've experienced much more than two hours of Alaska. We've visited but never saw the northern lights. It does appear even at our latitude but with all the city lights and clouds, we probably miss them. Great job with the poem which covers the aurora even covering the scientific explanations as well as the beauty.
Perhaps you can track the aurora from where you are without leaving the comforts of home: https://www.explorefairbanks.com/aurora-tracker/

Thanks very much for the link, Helen. I'll be sure to visit from time to time, though an in-person viewing would be my ultimate desire. Most grateful, Craig
