As in Boswell's Life of Johnson I suppose. Yes this is a clever bit of subjective succinctivity (one new word deserves another wouldn't you say?). A most amusing little piece that will mean something to those who have heard of Boswell and for that matter Johnson.

That's the one. Yes, although the meaning is obvious, I can honestly say I'd never heard of "succinctivity" before. The term is a bit self-contradictory, don't you think? Similar in vein to "abbreviation". Many thanks, PG.

I reckon you are right. I only made it up today when I came across boswellise. Lol.

Well, you got me on - boswellise. A new word for the day but I cannot see me using it much. Thank you for the definition to help me appreciate your fine 3 line poem contest entry. Great job on this romantic piece and good luck in the competition. ~DD

Thanks so much, DD. Like you, I don't envision dropping it into casual conversation all that often. Cheers, Craig

-The syllable count is good, Craig.
-Thanks for sharing another new word.
-You have used it well in your poem.
-I like the repetition of the 'b' sound,
a nice emphasis for your new word.
-I also like the romantic concluding line.
-Good luck in the contest.
