June
Lovely poem, rich with feeling and emotion. Forgive the cliches but "the re is no place like home". Modern times, society, doesn't have the core strength it once hand because the current family structure.

If I had 6-stars, they would be yours! I am so sorry.
Your poem is a winner! A beautiful Puente poem, and you could not have chosen a better piece of artwork to accompany this wonderful work. I am 60, and have enough life in me to have experienced every word of your eloquent poetry, and I do not believe anyone could have said it better. Beautiful!

I read the comments first so that I could better understand and fully appreciate the poem. This one brought me to tears, June. You are such master wordsmith, depicting the circle of life so beautifully.
The first stanza made me cry. When my girls graduated from high school, I gave them each a shirt in which a mother bird is boosting a baby from the nest. It had a poem on it about spreading its wings. So of course I cried.
Your second and third stanzas made me cry for my son. The single line gives me hope that Preston will find his way home. Your third stanza gives me hope that he will want to come home, not just return out of duty.
I loved this, June. I apologize that I am out of six star ratings. This is an extremely well done and moving poem. Thank you.

I am so happy you can relate to this puente. It takes courage for us to let our birdies fly away. And it takes courage for them to return. There is always hope for your son. Deep down they remember all that we have done for them. Thank you for reading and sharing your sentiments. Always nice to hear from you.

This is a good entry for the potlatch club. It tells of the perfect home that has just the right mix of nurturing and encouragement. Home should always be a place you can comfortably come back to.
Keep writing. Have a great weekend.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem and I relate to the words. I have two daughters and even though we are many miles apart, each is still very close to my heart. I look forward to reading more of your work.
