Rosa Parks, a courageous lady. Good for her. She approached it non-violently--far from Antifa and hounding people in restaurants. Discrimination of any kind is offensive. I'm an equal opportunity non-discriminator, free speecher as long as it's non-violent. An excellent poem to honor dear Rosa. Marilyn

Good job, Craig, on your choice of word, but more importantly that you used it to show us that as a society, we are taking a step in the right direction. Rosa Parks Day... I did not know about it. Thanks for the new word.

Thanks for reminding us of Rosa and what she did to get things changed in one city. I like how you set the scene and SHOW us exactly what Rosa did. You also utilized your word of the day beautifully. Rod

You did a great job, Craig, with your word and the fact that you used it well to commemorate this historical event. I enjoyed reading this poem. There is great flow and rhymes. The picture is a great pairing, too. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Superb introduction and context to this particular poetic curiousity - a well known moment in history provides the backdrop as the reader ultimately 'absorbs' this most interesting of words not to mention struggles with pronunciation !!!!

Your poem has beautiful imagery of such a simple (yet extremely courageous) stand against what is wrong. Rosa Parks is the epitome of a hero. I enjoyed reading this very much. Well written.

Shucks, I was going to tell you how timely your piece is. The first "Rosa Parks Day" was a big deal around here. Once again, your knowledge of current events and history astounds.
When you saw "obstrigillation (n.) the action of opposing or resisting; an act of defiance," many acts of defiance could have come to mind. Thanks for thinking of Alabama. Thanks for reminding people that peaceful opposition can be successful.

I can't take full credit, Debbie. Yes, many things sprang to mind, but I decided to go with the example given in the book on this occasion. It's a story which I've always found inspirational. Many thanks for the lovely comments, and I hope you had a good Rosa Parks Day (I'm a day behind in my posting). Cheers, Craig
