Hi, Pam. Wow! I cannot believe you are capable of such violence in your writing because you strike me as such a gentle soul. LOL
You have done a good job though, using plenty of strong verbs throughout.
I am going to miss you. Bless you, Bob

Comment from Gloria ....
This is very well written, Pam. So true that it's not good to live in hate with a drive for vengeance, even though in this case it's warranted.
Your metre and alternating rhymes are spot on making this an easy to remember crime poem.
Most enjoyable read this morning. :)

Your poem made me think of the Vengeance is Mine verse in the Bible. As humans, we're too small emotionally to handle vengeance. It can wither the soul. In horrible events or actions one has to forgive to move on. Excellent work. Sorry to hear this is one of your final poems here. I have enjoyed our interactions. Best of luck to you. Hugh

A so-sad story. But the realization that hatred and revenge won't do much good. So you are leaving fanstory - that is too bad. I'm learning from some of the posts on this site.

Pam,
Wow. I thought I liked this poem a lot. When I got the author notes, I decided I'm not so sure. Leaving???
But - to your poem. I thought this was terrific. Terrific. A wonderful post about situations beyond our control and how we decide -- consciously -- to deal with them. It is conveyed well to the reader through your awesome use of meter and rhyme and comes to a surprising but thoughtful conclusion. I enjoyed every minute of it - except the author's notes, as I said. Hope you're not really considering leaving. Not with talent like this. *smile*
Thanks!

This is a very fine narrative poem. From start to finish it maintains its iambic tetrameter and its its alternating rhyme scheme. The story it tells is an immensly sad case of miscarriage of justice and the revenge to is hoped for rather than planned.
I have no suggestions for improvement as perfection cannot be improved upon.

I really enjoyed reading this story in a poem. I found it most interesting.
I also like the ending. As you say, it teaches us that hate is not an emoting worth holding on to.
Thanks for sharing.

This one of the best story in a poem one could ever readAs a Christian I know God is my defender, so why bother about revenger, anger, or any of the horrid things that tend to define the human race, more than love, grace or forgiveness, which are the image of God. Magfinceht piece of poetry Pam, superb job, I've taken the liberty of praying for you. You know being a believer is all about being good, being changed, rather than doing it yourself, because we all will resort to kind sometimes. Well done with this, blessings, Roy
