Very true! Great use of every syllable and font color to perfectly match the picture. With the photo and the poem, the red egg and the red "free" make the impact of the message clear. I'm guessing you're definitely a "red egg" type of person?

Not sure, Helen. I'm definitely in the minority when it comes to people's opinions on many things. Does that mean I'm not influenced by what people think? In any case, it's more an observation about people I admire than something autobiographical. Cheers :) Craig

A very well-written four-line poem about having a free mind to choose our own path and not governed by others that want to place us in a certain way of thought.

Hello Craig!
Such powerful and true words! And yet, so many individuals today appear content to never "rock the boat" and live their lives according to the "expectations of others."
Your words would look wonderful upon a poster - to be hung in high school everywhere!
Best Wishes!

Thanks so much for the wonderful comments, Diane. Wouldn't it be something to have one's words hung all over the place? Most grateful, Craig :)

Why is that freedom so hard to achieve? To achieve it, I think that you have to surround yourself with people that love you for who you are, with no expectations. Sort of like a spaniel. People like that are hard to find.
You have a winner here.

Terrific entry for the contest, Craig! You could not have chosen a better picture to emphasize being different and choosing one's own path. Love the subject matter.
Striking and powerful picture and presentation! Syllable count for each line is spot on. I think you have a winner here!
Cheers,
Connie

Thanks so much for the lovely comments, Barb. In the end, it's our own expectations that matter most, I think. Most grateful, Craig

Well said, dear C. So true. Fine form, flow and message. Great artwork choice to metaphorically exemplify your theme. I like the use of the word governed. I like your choice to mimic the artwork by using red font for FREE. Bravo and good luck.
Warmly, rd

If this does not win this contest, I will be shocked. The form could not be better-used. Your poem is exceptional on every level, Craig (and I'm only sorry I didn't write it).

Not as shocked as I will be if it does :)
Thanks so much for the wonderful comments and extremely kind rating, Dawn. You always know what to say to bring a smile to an uninspired writer's face! Most grateful, Craig

This is one of those oxymorons in life, on the one hand we need to take advice and on the other we need to be free thinkers so that we make our own way and learn from our own experience of life, food for thought here, love Dolly x

Listening to advice is a good thing. Taking it, not always so much of a good thing :) Thanks for the great review, Dolly.

Perfectly written. And very real and true. The mind is a precious gift and has many outlets. I enjoyed reading this. And loved what it stood for. We are all free in our minds and no one can take that away. Nice job!
