Great message Mystery poet. We work so hard to make a splash, a place in the sun, some noise and gain attention. The lilies do nothing but reflect the Glory of God. Hmmm Good luck...nicely written. Robert

Dear Mystery Writer,
I am so sorry that this contest did not describe this poem form more clearly. I completely blame the creator of the contest and the way they have attempted to describe this form - I admit they have left it a bit cloudy.
If I may, I'd like to offer a bit better of an example for you. I have no idea if this will be an issue or not, but just in case, you may want to consider a change. Here's your poem as it stands:
***
Reading
Needing
Pleading
Heeding
Reading, needing, pleading, heeding just
scriptures words, on which we pray, I trust!
***
The description says that those '-ing' words are to be used as the 5th-8th syllable words in the last two lines. What that means is, if you count it up, in EACH of the last two lines, you should be using TWO of those '-ing' words near the end in the 5th-8th position. Any clearer? hahaha
So it would be something more like this:
***
Reading
Needing
Pleading
Heeding
I am busy reading, needing so,
with scriptures I'll -- pleading, heeding-- grow!
***
If you'll notice, this change places your '-ing' words into that special place in both those lines. hahaha It's a strategic form and a bit of an acrobatic act. My attempt may be nowhere near where you want to be, but you may see what I mean, at least.
Thanks a lot and much good luck to you!

Robyn, the rules are confusing, but you are the professional and I am not. I have made the recommended syllabic changes in the last two lines. Thanks for sending me a life-line for the contest!

Haha. No, no. Not pro by any stretch. I?ve never even attempted one of these, my friend!! Ha. You?re much braver than me. Wishing you lots of luck!

This is a very nice and very well written tyburn poem you have penned for the writing prompt. You used very good descriptive words and very lovely imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

While I like this well penned poem, I am not sure that it actually meets the requirements of contest as is. The last 2 lines would need to be rewritten some. Best of luck in the contest.

Nice!
I love the word, heeding as you have so eloquently illustrated.
You write with both a sense of passion and allegory.
Much luck to you in the contest.

There are so many types of poetry I had never heard of And I am learning so much on the site! I'm going to have to get brave and try some of these tricky ones. This one is absolutely beautiful and I'm reading it on Christmas Eve. There is no better time to read the spiritual poetry all over the site than at Christmas time. I always love it, but I feel the most from it at this time of year. Thank you for sharing this lovely work, the beautiful image, and best of luck in the contest! Merry Christmas!
