This is an extremely interesting story, where the main character slowly comes to terms with who she is and her place in the world. It is written in a down to earth fashion (I loved the line "[they] told me it would be fun. They lied. It wasn't.") and it is sucks you into the story very easily. I can imagine clearly the end of the day when her husband comes home, and beyond that point). Well done.

Thank you so very much! Gretchen

It was good to read this as we all seem to be so hard on ourselves somehow. Putting the bottle of wine down the drain is commendable. We don't need it. I liked this very much. You are special!

Hi GW Hargiss, I seldom give 6 ratings but your poem
moved my spiritual faith bone. I am a retired Pastor and really appreciate personnal testimony of God moving into an ol' sinners life and making them brand new from the inside out. Bible says "If any one be in Christ, they are new creation; old things have passed away and all things are become new."
God bless you; "Always go with God and His Word and you can never go wrong"

Maybe her husband wasn't as disinterested as she thought. I don't know if God exists or not. I do know that drinking and feeling sorry for yourself is not very attractive. Nothing wrong with telling it like it is, tho. 50 should be fifty.
