As usual, this is an outstanding post. It's very funny, yet there is a great deal of truth in it. I think both men and women buy into the whole happily ever after with their prince or princess and when the individuals realize that their involved with a real person and not the paragon they sought and the relationship hits a rough patch it all falls apart. I've known people who have been together for a long time and at least to my perspective are happy. So while life isn't a bed or roses it can at least be a bed of wild violets. Well done, Liz!

Thankssssss! Alas, some people are always restless for someone "better" who will magically make life perfect. So pleased you enjoyed my parody "play."

Your story is hilarious and often true. A lot of us have been there and done that. Then again, I know of several people who have been together for many years and still actually like one another. Cute story.

Sounds to me like they both had expectations beyond reality. Both were trying to make the situation into what they wanted it to be. Very good dialogue.

I could tell that this loss of love/friendship has really hurt you to the core. I hope with time you are able to heal the hurt. The hurt and pain you both experienced came through very clear in the writing, great job .Veenbee

Thanks for stopping by! This is meant to reflect the universal theme of dissatisfaction with relationships when infatuation ends as we realize the person doesn't magically change our lives. Cheers. LIZ

I have kept this one six tucked snugly away waiting for the right post. Not like usual, when I use them all us the first day out of the box. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I am honored, both by the 6 and that you took the time to read this, given your school schedule. Cheers. LIZ

Absolutely fantastic! Excellent job. The pacing is amazing. The words flow freely like a ball rolling downhill, but never lose their meaning or sound like frantic rambling. This is clever and and amusing without risking any sense of being trite. I really enjoyed reading this.

What an amazing performance! I actually felt like I was watching this unfold on stage. Two starcrossed lovers, tripping on their own feet as they explore the same inexplicable nuances of love, only to come up empty-handed. Very fun read!

Ok, your character here obviously woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day which, in this particular case, is good. Honestly though, you may want to tone down the "I can't believe that" lines down a notch. Otherwise people in the audience will start thinking "believe what already?"

Point taken, Ben! Whenever I use the device of repetition I realize I risk annoying the reader. In this case not only are the archetypical characters mirrors of each other but they indeed tend toward inanities of "elocution." Cheers. LIZ

Well, you put both perspectives of internal thoughts and feelings in nutshells. It is amazing how quickly people fall into and out of love without realizing the whys.
