An outstanding tribute to the vets. I only hope that when I'm six feet under, in the garden of stone, that similar thoughts will permeate the earth. Thank you for giving us this.

Well, you could certainly shear a lot of sheepish
words off this in order to make your statements
make sense and stand up like Marines, ready
to die or, like hippies, run run away to Canada to
make love, wine, song and peace.
Liked the message tho, well, as soon as I was
able to slog through that muddy verbosity.

what a difficult subject to tackle. you have done the soldier a great service, they are most misunderstood especially by those who mat oppose an unpopular war. your words and images support those who are laying their lives on the line. I encourage you to wrute more, well done Regards Paul

wow...and hi. this was a very deep, very well
thought out piece of work and i kinda wishes it
was a debate coz there were so many things i wanted
to talk though with ya or ask ya about. in truth i
read it like a debate, like a story, not really what
i would class as poetry, but the writing of this
piece was excellent.

This reads more like prose than poetry to me, but for the sentiment and strong conviction it can earn no less than five stars. You raise valid points and bring to light that a soldier's sacrifice is to be revered and remembered.

Powerful deep piece Gary. So many souls of soldiers past have to be remembered. Whether we learn from our past, time will tell. But somehow i doubt it, James

This is so sad, but it is true. Our men and women have given the greatest price. One day I hope no one will have to give their precious lives.

This is very good and asks some important questions, which brings me to my one criticism ... I do think I would put question marks where appropriate. It will bring more power to your piece. well done. "Dare we call from beneath this cross of stone, always reminding you of the confusion from history" well done
