Ava certainly has a challenge with this horse. Too bad they just aren't smart enough to know she's doing what she can to free him and not planning to leave him behind. I think it's so neat how she talks to the animals to soothe them. This was a nerve-wracking but enjoyable chapter, debi.

This young horse is turning out to be the hardest to deal with. It's a relief to findly see you leading him to freedom. I look forward to find if getting him out will go smoothly the rest of the way. I'm enjoying the drama.

I felt my heart in my throat in this chapter. I don't know much about horses but I knew enough to realize the young horse kicking could either make it so the stall door wouldn't open or it would injure himself. Poor goat. Now he's all alone. He will probably be the most difficult to free. Lol. Great chapter, full of drama, horses and a great problem solving heroine. I'm enjoying this story a lit. Gretchen

First of all, congratulations for placing in book of the month. I voted for you, since I think this has been both well written and interesting so far. And it's different:-)
The paragraph that begins "Looks like we've got a nail wedged . . ." It seems awkward. You ask, "Got a screwdriver handy?" and I wonder if that should be the end of the conversation with the horse. The rest sounds like narration more than conversation.
I enjoyed this chapter, as I've enjoyed them all. I'm hoping the goat is her next rescue!

Wow, lots of action and suspense with this chapter. Poor colt, he was feeling abandoned and angry! I like the way you dropped in his good breeding while describing him. Bit of luck in the end with the door giving way.
Have a good week, hugs,
Rhonda

Excellent chapter, Debi. I knew there had to be one horse that would give Ava some problems. It makes the story a story and do realistic
I know nothing about horses but am learning about them through you. Thank you.
I'm looking forward to the horses name to be given and the next chapter.
Cheers to safely beaching horse number four...

I think I read a previous chapter of this. From the looks of things it appears Ava has some magical ability to speak to animals, and they have a somewhat limited ability to understand Ava, who is very kind hearted when it comes to animals.

Hi Lancellot,
Thank you for the analysis. I appreciate you stopping by to read and review. Ava can handle a horse. We'll see about the goat. Have a wonderful week.

Whew! You wrote in a lot of tension just with dialogue and the frustrating situation plus the anxious little colt whose mood is echoed in the goat. Hope the goat will be okay. I was wondering if Ava was going to take both the colt and the goat at the same time but with the colt being so touchy, that could be bad.

Hi Helen,
Yes, two animals would be too much for one person to handle under the circumstances. Thanks for supporting the story and for your kind comments. Have a wonderful week.
