I love your self-deprecating humor embedded throughout this poem. Your coupled rhyming (AABB) was delightful and then you mono-rhymed the closing quatrain and last comment. You said a mouthful. I can understand your hubby as well.

Tom, I thank you so very much for such lovely comments and some of the nicest compliments for my health scare poem I wrote for my doctor. She was going to frame it and hang it on her office wall.
Hopefully she has done that already and that it helps someone else who was supposed to stay on a diet like I had for my kidneys, (Ooops!) so I hope it helps other too.
Thanks again, dear friend! Debi

You were successful in doing exactly as your doctor asked in writing your poem. Now if you will be just as successful in drinking water and going lightly on sweets. They are my big temptation, and I need to take off the four pound that remain of Christmas joy!

As always, Verna, you are so sweet. Yes, I was scared enough to make the immediate changes for me, and water and feet above my heart were the start for me. Then it had to be cut out salt and sugar. Yet salt was the main culprit for me. The water retention made my feet and legs double the size and were dangerously big. Couldn't even get a pair of shoes on. So mine was 14 pounds of water weight that did come off as soon as they put me on the water pill and changed the bp med,
I give you credit for watching it when it's only four pounds. But then I knew you were a smart lady. Thanks for your kind comments my very dear friend.
Love, Debi

I hope everyone entering your doctor's office will read this and change any errant ways. WE are, more often than not, responsible for our distress.
There's a show on Netflix about the "blue zones" in the world. It is full of great information on how to live your best life every day.
On the road to recovery - that's where we want you, girl! Wishing you the best, as a lot of this is behavioral change, and that's so hard for all of us to do.
I enjoyed reading this, and I hope patients will, as well.

Hello, sweet sis! Thanks so much for all your lovely and caring comments for this poem for my Dr. it is pretty cool to have a friend for a dr. Yet I am sure that is the reason she asked for the poem. Thanks for the awesome six stars too, my awesome twin sis! Love ya, Debi

Love your poem. This happens to every one of us during the holidays. When we want to start dieting, we need willpower. It's necessary if we feel out of breath when walking up the steps.

Rosemary, I truly appreciate your lovely and caring comments for this poem for my Dr.
Sometimes we have to get pretty scared to make those needed changes in our lives. And believe me I hit that point. So when I get it all under control, hopefully I won't forget too soon what I learned. And yes, I too have trouble walking at all, but can't do steps. I take it you have trouble tho with that. I truly do sympathize and all we can do is see what it is we need help with and go for it. I wish you the best, Sweetie.
You have no idea how much I appreciate your comments, friendship and thanks too for the gracious six stars, my sweet friend. Love, Debi

No, I don't have trouble walking up the steps. I was writing an example, as some people do have this problem.
-
Oh good, hon. Gosh that is good to hear. But I can't believe that I one took advantage of walking. Once I can do it again, I will never take advantage of any health issue again. Thanks for your kind comments, my very dear friend.

Wow! You really had a scare! I also had a health scare around the holidays a couple of years ago. (A heart attack) so I know how scary it can be. I hope your health improves and you feel better

What a great idea, Debi! A perfect place for this piece!
My goodness, I've never heard of someone having blood pressure as high as that. Yikes!
I'm happy you've turned over a new leaf and are on the mend. The holidays are always tough for those of us who aren't healthy and for those of us who are.
Best, JohnC

Thank you this beautiful poem of survival. I'm sure the doctor was glad to get it and share with her patients! I'm glad you were able to find what had caused your health crisis so you could begin your journey back to health. You're a precious soul who is willing to reach out to others to share things that would uplift them!
Thank you,
Love you much.

OMG, Debbie. I was hoping this was total 'fiction', but then I read your note regarding the poem. You certainly took doctor's orders getting the poem written, had a good message, entertaining, and a little humor t'boot, but very scary. I hope you're following doctor's orders on the other front as well. The extra star is for sharing your personal issue with us, and giving everyone a wake-up. You are not alone.
Take care.

Debi, I often said about your writing you have a way of connecting with your readers in a personal way that allows them to identify with what you are writing about. This is the perfect example. People are thinking, been there, done that. Well done. Terry.

Terry, Thank you so very much for these kind comments and your gracious six stars for this poem about my health scare that I am going thru.
Actually wasn't going to tell you about it as my health stuff is sickening to me, so it has to be to others too. But LOL, when my doc wanted a poem, I couldn't write one and not post it. I guess this is my day to vent.
Anyway this week looks like we will be discussing kidney dialysis and will know more after this week when I see a new kidney specialist. It seems to be something they call lupus nephritis so It is far from over.
But having kind words from friends like you truly help.
Thank you so much! Debi

I can understand why your doctor wanted you to write this. You did a wonderful job too. Not only that, you've helped many that have fallen into holiday temptations and reaped serious consequences.
As you know, I've had to adjust my eating, and, of course, the holiday baking and menus. My Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner plates looked very different this past year with the 20 foods I can eat. Changes can be hard, but so worth it.
I'm so proud of you for making the necessary changes so quickly, my friend! Bless the Lord!
Sending you my best today as always, and love and blessings across the miles,
