This was a very well written, free flowing poem. I loved the sentiment behind it. That is one of the saddest things about war. I remember leaving my young wife behind. Well done! - Sam

This is a heartbreaking story, it happens to many, so many persons in real life. Your words show a great sense of compassion for the grieving ones.

Thank you very much amada. Lucky for me, this poem was written from the vantage point of one who can only imagine what this may feel like .. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Having a soldier of my own these poems really hurt. It is hard to think of those who don't make it home and to know it could be yours next. Great job.

Hey alpaca lady,
Such a sweet, & poignant poem. I'm assuming this didn't actually happen to you, but I know it's happened to others, way too many others.
Thank you for sharing this lovely poem with us.

No, didn't happen to me, but you hear of it happening all too often, right through history and the current day. I'm glad you enjoyed this and appreciate your comments very much indeed xoxoxoxoxxoxoxoxo

Your poem is a poignant reminder that this is a sad reality for many of our soldier's wives. Well- written, with vivid pictures of the lonely seasons since his departure and the beauty of the newborn. I didn't see anything that needed correcting or changing.
great work - sherry

This is beautiful and heart-breakingly sad. I have tears in my eyes as I write this.
I hope this poem is fictional for you, but I know that for too many it is true. You have expressed perfectly the hope, fear, and sorrow of waiting for one who cannot return from duty.
This is truly expectional. My six stars are yours.

It is fictional and I thank my lucky stars it is as my husband fought in Iraq in 2004. I can only imagine how it would feel to lose your partner and the father of your child ...
I truly appreciate your review and six stars, so thank you very much indeed Gramma Kathy xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

A story that goes on and on through the annals of time. When will it end? War goes on forever and we don't seem to be able to learn that it is pointless. An excellent free verse poem.

We seem to have almost accepted wars as being a necessary evil - the only way to solve world issues. One day though, sense will prevail, of that I'm sure - but just don't know if we'll see it in this life!
Thanks so much as always my friend, for a wonderful review xoxoxoxoxxo
