Very good free verse. Well-expressed. Reminded me of 'Channel Firing' by Thomas Hardy, which I think you would enjoy (though his isn't free verse). Great job.
Blessings,
Patrick.

You did a wonderful job with this free flowing and timely poem. You words and phrases evoke emotion and tell the universal soldier's story. Good job on this commentary on wars and what they cost us.

will live on in the hearts and actions of men who remember the injustice from their past
Or will you fall victim to events we ignored,,,,,,,,
My dad went though ww2. He never talked much about the war except with the guys who were there. We had to eavesdrop to hear it and the injustice of which you spoke. Mainly what they saw in Holland in each starving town as they liberated it.

Dear Deepwater,
Great poem for Remembrance day. I thought you raise some interesting points and put them into poetic form. I particularly liked
In time our children shall come to understand when and how our fate
was changed by the hand of mankind....Wonderful. Sad that so many have lost life or limb, there life cut short in a split second because those that rage war in their beliefs.
I look forward to reading more from you.

A good remembrance of the lessons that history teaches us and how we must put the events in proper perspective and continue to pray for peace to come one day to this world.

This poem brings up some very salient points. Especially the one about repeating the mistakes of the past. You have hit on an issue that really rings home with a wide range of readers in the modern world.

Fantastic and timely look into the soul of one of our country's bravest but least appreciated. We owe so much to those who have put their lives on the line for our freedom and we take that sacrifice so lightly. Shame on us!

Nicely said. Strangely, this was the first poem I've read that was fitting for this day in November.
"We live on in the thoughts and actions of men who remember..."
A good poem to read.
