Excellent.
I've been through much of the same searching for what is really important in my life.
It's always a compelling journey.

This write is quite Poe-ish in style. In many of his writings, the settings are there, though the characters are never quite connected to them, continually viewing things or events through introspection. A sort of telescopic view to it all; there but not truly involved, perse. His characters used events and settings to examine themselves, like a mental trigger. I've never been able to decide if I "like" his writings, but I'm still pulled to them for their difference to the throng, and admired him for it. I feel that way about this write. On that basis, it's a six write, for me. Well done. Good luck in the contest. Ash.

Writing is not always about pleasing the crowd. I think you've helped me to understand him better...honesty in the pen. Thank you.

What a novel take on the theme of kidnapped. You have written a very interesting introspective piece. I think there is something of everyone in it, if we are honest with ourselves.

Good plot and good strong characters. It's amazing how our own fears can hold us captive. You did a great job showing that.
is an odd creature"sometimes one escapes (extra quotation mark)

This is a very well written account of a person's inner struggles with sadness, depression, loneliness, fear and all sorts of negative feelings. Very good narration, great imagery, filled with emotion. Well done on this. Best wishes in the contest!

Your expression of personal emotion is brilliant, we all struggle with our own inner demons. Some are fortunate to escape the haunting nightmares, while others search deep within their souls for answers in hopes of escaping the madness.
It's only in understanding our deepest struggles through life, that we are able to move forward in a positive direction.
I appreciate the intensity of your words

Adina, believe me I have been to hell and back many times and for forty-five years have fought many of my own personal demons. Its never easy, but when we expose them for what they are, we've trampled them under foot.

This is an extremely strong and insightful story. There were too many impacting parts to mention them all.
One of my favorites:
Every event is a link between past and future, a smooth hook of yesterday's yarn into today's fabric stitched into tomorrow. (This is a wonderful realization)
