I loved this poem! A fresh perspective on life and living alone. I really got a feel for your experiences and connected with you as an author and I felt like this was a mixture of a life story and a life lesson, sort of as if telling the reader "Hey, this is how I lived, this is what I experienced, it's up to you if you want that same experience." Well done!

This was a solid, non rhymed freestyle that had a retrospective voice of one looking upon and considering his past. I thought you did a solid job constructing this piece and there was no SPAG so great work and thanks for sharing.

This struck a never.
At 56, I here you but hopefully many miles to go before we sleep.
This is a masterfully written piece with great imagery and metaphor.
Great image.
Reads well and makes sense.
Hard to forget!

To be our own best friend is the best we can be. Others are fallible, whereas we would not let ourselves fall.
I like this very much - A positive spin on a selfish gene :-)

Wow, we all need to figure this out. I feel that life is about finding out who we really are and what were meant to do. It is when we find ourselves, is when we will have peace. I love this.

Hi deepwater. I enjoyed this piece. It speaks of a content man who knows he has done all he can to get the very best out of life, and to enjoy his lot.
'Seeking intimate wealth in the company of friends...' What an interesting concept...especially in view of the following thoughts, 'To experience lust, love, anger, tears and pain.' All the ingredients that make up a full and rich life.
Well done, for displaying such deep thoughts in such a succinct writing. It speaks volumes. Thank you.
Anthony.

Gary, Sad, but if living a life of loneliness is your choice, then it may not be sad for you. I've been alone for seventeen years and I truly miss my former life. Your road to your life is well written and an enjoyable read. Carole

Good poem with a good picture. Good word flow and rhyming, make this a very interesting and good poem to read. Good palm about one's life, and the thoughts as you look back across the miles.

A poem of believing in ourselves and following our dreams. It can be hard sometimes, the life we live and the path we have chosen, but to follow that inner voice with no regrets makes a life fulfilled. Truly content,a life that was of my own choice, says it all. cheers judester

Living life the way you want is good if it doesn't mean that someone else paid a price for it. I have heard many men in particular use those those words. Their wives and children would sing a different song.
Well penned poem
