This is such a sad tale that I'm sure is repeated over and over, thousands of times. A beautiful tribute to a lost love. Hugs, Jack xxxxxxxxxx

A poem that can't help touching every heart. So profound...so very well expressed. It must be terrible to pass even one night and then years go by. Wonder if time can lessen the pain?

M.Karol, I do not think time lessens the pain, it just softens it and the tears that fall are on precious memories and not overwhelming grief..again thank you so very much for stopping by to read and review my poem. I apologize for the delay in responding..jlsavell

This is just so wonderful...
It exhibits pain, loneliness, longing, love and what not....
Kind of mixed emotions...
Beautifully crafted and enriched with emotions...
Mind wrenching imagery...
"Parked by the lawn, I stepped out of the car
Sunglasses covered my tearing red eyes
I imagined you there, standing just afar
With your arms outstretched to comfort my cries"....
Amazing!
"God, please grant me a moment's grace
before I face another lonely night
I needed to come to this sad place
and let him know I'll be alright"....
Wow!
Well done!
Keep it up!

I wanted to cry reading these words as they are the same sentiments I was expressing four years ago when my 10 year long relationship ended with his sudden death. All those feelings you evoked within me with your words of loss and prayer for strength. I, too, placed three red rosed upon his grave. Thank you so much!

Hello, this is a lovely poem. I think grief is a very debilitating condition. It can steal your life away, if you let it. There is such a temptation to say, 'it isn't fair', but life offers no guarantees, does it? And in some way, it's complete random unfairness, is one of life's truly fair things, hope that makes sense.
Thanks for sharing your writing, it is a work i would recommend to other readers for review, cheers, rivki

jlsavell,
Wow, you've poem is poignant and exquisitely written. Gorgeous art work and presentation. Your poem is a sad story. I was crying while I'm writing my review. Powerful narrative, vivid imagery and very descriptive writing. I was especially moved by the stanzas:
Just for a moment I heard your voice,
and your robust laughter that filled my soul
I knew coming here was the right choice,
for losing you had taken my heart's toll
I never once imagined you'd go away
Our time together was a cherished gift
That dark fateful night I begged you to stay
In a flash our world ripped and went adrift
It's been a year since you left me alone
I knelt to face the etched words before me
Your gallant name and facts in cold gray stone
I wiped my grieving tears,
and placed my rose in loving memory
Impressive writing. I'm awarding you six stars for you're exceptional poem. . .Melissa.

Wow! I don't know of you wrote this from the experience in your life or simply penned it thinking how you might feel if it actually happens, but you have given a truly heartfelt display of the portion of the grieving process where you slowly ease into the acceptance stage. You aren't quite there but you stand near the edge.
Absolutely chilling!
