I really enjoyed reading this delightful piece of poetic art.It flowed through its thoughts and phrases so very easily. I love to read rhythmic verse like this. It just makes me smile... John

I really liked this but it seems ( leer )is out place with the intent of the meaning it jolts the eyes. How about this

The life we hold so dear and near
Would likely be an empty tear

But it's your poem, a good one too. I am no poet so what do I know. I hope you take this in the kindly manner it was given.
