No one else is responsible for making you happy. It is a thing between the person and God. Your piece is excellent and by know means preachy. Janie had cataract surgery yesterday. Will have the left eye done on April 8th. She helps me do the reading and typing some replies since I have macular degeneration and it really limits me. My book is ready to go to press, they are waiting for the finalizing of the book cover. The church has helped me get all but $200 of the amount needed. The Friday fundraiser got cancelled because we got 8 inches of snow. I rejoice in knowing God has everything under control. I thank you so much for sponsoring me so I could get started on this site. Janie hasn't forgotten to send it back to you. It's a matter of timing, but soon. She's letting it worry her to a point. Our next fundraiser is scheduled for April 10th and 17th. God loves you and so do I.

Evelyn, when I think of all the Lord has done for me, I could shout from rooftops. Please tell Janie to worry about something else if she MUST worry; however, I wish she wouldn't fret about anything. I am not in any hurry to receive the money. Whenever, I decide to do a kindness for anyone, it's because the Lord has instructed me to do so; therefore, whether I get the money is not material. So please, one last time, do not fret! I thank you for your lovely review, and I pray that all will work out for you as you are certainly deserving of only the best. Peace and joy to you!

Dossie,

Your essay is one of the most uplifting things I have read in a while, the Bible excluded. Our self confidence and how we look at ourselves defines us to other people. I tend to be a worrier, and I have to talk to myself daily about building bridges ahead. I learned long ago, that there are seldom streams where I built the bridge.

Matt 6:34 (NIV) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. The sixth chapter of Matthew and the twelveth chapter of Luke have much to say about worry.

Thanks for getting me to slow down and think.

Curtis

You're welcome, Curtis. Thanks for this inspirational review that validates what I was attempting to say. I'm delighted you found the key to happiness, because it's all there in the Bible as you've discovered. Dossie

The writing in this piece is what it is for better or for worse. Is this going to be a self-help book or an interpretation of the Bible? I wish I was naive enough to believe it, but life has tough me that it takes more than putting on a smile to be happy. You say you don't wish to sound preachy, but this entire piece is nothing but preaching.

Thanks, Slythylove2 for stopping by to read my essay. Your frustration comes across; therefore, I applaud you for not downgrading the essay. As for my thinking, I was always a worrier, but after too many years of living under the strain of it all, I decided to give the teachings of the Bible a shot at calming me down. It was not easy unloading all my cares and troubles on an unseen Being, but I did. Slowly, I began to see things differently. It wasn't as though I got this epiphany overnight, and everything changed; however, I noticed the grip of fear that some major disaster was about to happen slowly dissipated, and I started seeing a future filled with hope. I got a pen and paper and started writing down, in very descriptive details, the type of future I desired. Over time, it all materialized. My advice to you is to believe you're happy, no matter what is going on around you and to also believe in the power with in you. You're like that picture, there's a loin inside your raring to get out. If you'll take this one small step and believe you're happy, you will be surprised at the harvest you'll reap. I wish for you, an abundant life and many, many blessings!

I have one son and he is going though pre-teen stage. He is lazy, but I still love him. Happiness starts with in and that is something I am learning to get better as. God's joy is the best.

This is a nice essay ... well thought out and well-written. Too many people can't seem to feel good about themselves, for one reason or another. Many are younger people who really have the most to be thankful for but who have trouble realizing that. The best feeling anyone can have is feeling good about themselves. If they can't learn to love themselves, they're not likely to be able to love anyone else either, or to recognize love when it's showered upon them.

I truly love this post. It's written in a kind of philosophical manner but with justification, I believe.
The truth of your writing is evident, but many of us don't see that truth and think it is a myth, only to discover when it's too late, that it was in fact the absolute truth.
The picture with the cat looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection of a lion is superb and sets off, to the letter, what you are writing about. That is how God sees us. Most of us do not see the incredible strength that we have within, until we are able to see it though God's eyes.
Good job.

abbasjoy, I could not have said it better. Thanks so much for understanding what it is that I am saying in this article. One poster said it did sound preachy. I wrote this article because I have experienced it all. I know the power of God's love and its sustainability. Dossie

This is a strong and beautiful reflection. However, this message is far from fiction and you might want to change the category. Personally, I would have read it anyway.

A daily devotional worthy of five stars.

Kindest regards,

You read a very cogent essay about the benefits of living in the moment. The essay cautions us not to let our fears carry into tomorrow and actually create that tomorrow from what we fear today. Good job
