Excellent poem. Lots of emotion. Understood it.
WHEN I WAS JUST A LITTLE LAD, I STROLLED DOWN TO THE CREEK
I WROTE SOME SIMPLE QUESTIONS DOWN TO ANSWERS I WOULD SEEK.

Gotta give you six stars for this one, Dean. A deeply moving and wonderful story! My supreme pleasure to read it. There were a couple of places where I stumbled, but there is such truth here, it can't take away the excellence of your write.
I loved this,
"My son, don't ever worry about questions you might have,
for in my Word my voice is heard, a gentle soothing salve.
Send your burdens to me in prayer, I'll answer right away,
and when in doubt, don't spell it out, get on your knees and pray."
and here,
"So if you have some questions and need your voice be heard,
get on your knees and just believe... there's power in His word."
This warms my heart today. One of your very best, Dean!
Thanks for sharing.
cheers

Thanks very much, Kimbob. It's nice to know that something I've written has warmed someone's heart rather than send cold chills up and down their spine for a change. I sincerely appreciate your heartfelt comments and exceptional rating, my friend. I hope the week ahead is a wonderful one for you, and thanks again. :)

Isn't it wonderful the Lord always gives us answers in ways we least expect them. God is truly amazing. This is such a touching story of God's amazing grace and mercy in touching your life as a child. Beautiful poem.

You never cease to amaze me. What a heart-lifting story.
Mysterious ways, for sure. Great choice of questions that a young boy would ask. And what an awesome answer. You da boss. :-)

I wrote some simple questions down to answers I would seek (I'm not sure 'to' is the most effective word here. Maybe 'whose???)
for in my Word my voice is heard, (maybe change the first 'my' to 'by")
And why does daddy jump in bed as soon as he gets home? (maybe revise this line and make it rhyme with home)
Just a few thoughts , but as always your work is beautiful and this is a very inspirational story. I hope you don't mind my suggestions. As is, it is a great write, my friend~Debbie

I'm not even halfway yet, my friend, and these tears are already streaming down my cheek...
When I was a child, I used to wait for the "ber" months to write my letter to Santa Claus, hanged a sock in the window and asked him to tell God to make our family whole again. I didn't get my much awaited answer. Only an understanding of our situation. That answer is more than what I needed.
I'll follow your advice.
"So if you have some questions and need your voice be heard, get on your knees and just believe... there's power in His word."
Thank you! c", Mae Take so much care, okay?

Thanks so much, NureseBarb. I'm really glad that you liked this one. My Pastor doesn't care too much for my "other" poems, and he often challenges me to write something spiritual.
He loved this one, and I'm so glad you did too! :}
Comment from Rmocruz
This is a heart warming, solidly rhymed, spiritual verse.
A pleasure to have read this inspirational story in a poem.
Well crafted, overall.
