The mothers day keeps the author remember the attachment the mother had with the family. Though a melancholy song, respecting the song on a mothers day gives more emphasis.

It is a wonderful thing when a person knows what they have before they lose it.
Too many take it for granted.

It is easy to see why your mother loved this. It is C&W through and through and I found it worked well as I tried to sing it with a country rhythm. Your love and respect for the job your mother did for you and your siblings is palpable and emanates from every verse. I particularly liked the verse when you said retirement doesn't fit her plans because a mother's job is never done. Great job.
