A happy family is a healthy family. This is very well written with an emotional flow of words, making for a good read. There is good imagery. Good luck in your contest.

Hi Mystery poet, this is a really wonderful entry for this particular competition, wonderful words to go with a joyous picture, I wish you the best of luck in the contest my friend.

This senryu, joy and laughter fill, uses the daily idea of family and gives it a face and voice. The dependence, reliance, and eternal connection between kids and parents is evident in your poem. Nice.

Love the line What's for dinner Mom? It brings up the feel of childhood. There are emotions and feelings in your words from the viewpoint of a child. Excellent senryu form with a theme all of us can relate to.

Five, seven and five syllables, about human emotions, two lines making a sentence and a sardonic conclusion...sounds like the definition of a senryu
I read someplace.

This is a heart warming image of a lovely young mother and her two delightful children. The poem perfectly portrays the idea of a family wrapped in love, it goes hand in hand with the excellent image.

That is such a beautiful picture. It gives joy just to see the smiles and read your words. I do not know if this is a personal image of some you know, but a lovely gesture.
Good luck in the competition.
Best wishes,
RGstar

Was the last line to say "Okay, there goes the joy...". I wasn't sure if that was the reason for the joy and laughter or the joke. Either way I enjoyed it. I think my gender is clear from this poem. Well done.

Thank you Michael :) this is a senryu about emotions, in my case the joy of being a mother and the love I have for my children. The satori is an observation of the life of parent and her children, not a joke nor the end of joy :)

I love the good-natured satire of this, that joy, laughter, and rejoicing take second place to "what's for dinner, Mom?" True to life. Good luck to you, Jeanie Mercer
