Great lyrics of a loved that has died! You either really like this subject or have had a lot of love loss in your life. Great descriptive imagery - in the roses turning away in shame and crying. Great emotion expressed of the heartache of loss.

Guilty on both accounts. Glad you enjoyed these Country lyrics. Learned a long time ago the trick to writing decent Country music is to make it sad, pitiful, and morbid. Just seems to warm the listener's heart. Your comments and support appreciated.

What a great song. You got it right on the money. When the one we love leaves we are just in a daze. And they were probably trying to tell you goodbye for a long time. just wasn't listening. Good rhyme and easy to read. You can't hold on to someone if they don't want to be there. The memories just keep our hearts broken. Nice lyrics.

A beautiful regretful song. As they say regret is a good thing, but always comes too late. It is very sad that even the roses are crying. Roses are always the flower of love. The second line is a little bit unclear, to me. That is all that seems a bit out of line maybe you can just check it again. I suggest: and lost you along the way

Even the roses are crying...great lyrics, Bret. Nothing is quite as painful as losing someone we love.
I liked the personification of the roses when they turn theit heads in shame.
