G'day Pardna. Thank God he may have seen the light. I know some of what you have been through recently since we have known each other and it has been very traumatic on you and Wayne. You are a brave soul and yes indeed, sometimes we have to just let them go and hope the come around.
I love the way you started this with the two lines and ended the same way. The flow and rhyming as well as the rhythm are spot on. I am so proud of the way you have developed as a poet my friend. This is a beauty and very touching to this old heart. Take a bow, Bravo! Cheers Fez

Thank you, Feral, as always, coming from my master, the praise is so important, because I know you wouldn't say it if you didn't mean it!
Important, too, is your support, and I know that you have been there with us through it. Thank you on so many levels,
Your apprentice

A very true sentiment. A mother cries more in her lifetime for her children than for any other reason. The fact that he walked miles to surprise you speaks volumes for the love and care, plus the worry, that you have given over the years.

Thank you, Ellie. I cried all during church. He has a job (at least today), he's not on the streets, and he came to church. BTW, I did give him a ride home!
Thanks again,
Rhonda

Hi,
_ As I read this, it was me--all the way.
_ I'm pleased your outcome is proving to be far better than mine.
_ Blessings to you and your son.
_ My son is lost to me. I have no illusions things will be made right.
_ His challenges were many--he broke my mamma's heart--instead of accepting help, he turned to a life of drugs and alcohol, and then a crime that shattered our family and another's, which has taken its toll.
_ He's 44, but don't know where he is--how is his--only know he's in/out of jail and trouble.
_ I trust that the good Lord is looking out for him, as well as the person's life he altered for all time.
- Doesn't get easier--just learn to go on--one foot in front of the other.
_ Blessings to you, your son, and family.
Cheers & Blessings

Thank you first for sharing your own heartbreak. I have kind of, sort of, known where Joseph was, but not entirely. People were always asking me about him, and I would tell them I didn't know, and didn't want to talk about it. I still keep his 3 year old from time to time, though he doesn't know it. Mama won't let him anywhere near the baby because he won't take his meds, which before he always would.
I am glad for yesterday, but don't even try to hope for tomorrow. Like your son, he's one incident away from tragedy at all times.
Thanks for the review and comments,
Rhonda

I can only hope that this is a beginning for him. I have a God-son that went through a very similar journey and by 22 he began the journey to wellness but he had lost everything by then. He is now 28, sober, on his meds and graduated from college. I wish this for you and him. But a mother's love never changes. Yours won't either. -Bill.

Wow, Bill, what a wonderful ending. Joseph is 28, still off his meds and taking, I don't know what. But for now he's taking baby steps forward, and I thank God for that.
Thank you for sharing your encouraging story, and for your review,
Rhonda

A mother's lament and victory. A Mother's Tears.' How lovely is this poem you have created here? It sounds very much like a heart wrencher, and I can feel it. Very well done.
"Which shed more across the years,
Noah's flood, or a mother's' tears? " There is no doubt!

You are most welcome, Rhonda.

I guess the only compensation that you have, is that you've seen some hope come your way from a stressful situation. Nothing would be worse than having a child that had an affliction that simply could not go away unless something radical happened. I didn't know Rhonda, otherwise I would have prayed into this situation, I am so sorry. You've done a really good job with this one, nice even meter aabb rhyming, well done, blessings, Roy.

Thank you so much, Roy. I've dealt with him for years, but it started about a year ago when he quit taking his meds and he became intolerable for anyone to live with. He's still off his meds, but seems to be making some adjustments, and some very positive strides forward. I would still appreciate your prayers, thank you!

Sometimes I wonder why the things that happened to me ,happened. Sometimes I wish other things had happened instead. Then I read of the sorrows and heartache that others have dealt with and give thanks for the life I have been given. So well done my dear, you have won my respect and admiration for your ability to live in the moment and count your blessings as they fall. Best wishes always Cheers Cass

Thank you, Cass, you are so sweet. Joseph has been a source of sorrow for years, but it got worse, in huge proportions, when he got off his meds. I think the best, and hardest part, was letting go. Thanks for the brilliant 6 stars and for the wonderful comments,
Rhonda

That was so hopeful, I wish the reunion well.

Thank you so much. I have cried so many nights about this young man. He's 28 going on 13. I've tried to help and protect him all his life, actually before he was even born, and in the end, I wasn't helping him to become the man he has the capability of becoming. His brother and sister have done well in life, but Joseph struggles at more levels than I understand.
Thanks so much for the six stars, and for taking the time to review and leave such sensitive comments!
Rhonda
