Hi, Linda
He's way near the top of my list too. I totally love Purple Rain to listen to and sing as well as quite a few others. He's way too young and he was still touring and writing. So, crap, what a drag. I'm happy you liked my little tribute. It just kind of rushed out. Thanks so much Sweetness Queen. :)) mikeyxxoo

The "we're" in the first stanza...is that "were"?
Was it Prince who changed his name to the nonalphabetical emblem
a one time? A well done free verse, a fitting tribute...

Yes. Jeesh, I let spell check talk me into that. Thanks for catching it. Yeah, he changed his name to that emblem and no one could figure out what to call him. Hilarious.
Loved Purple Rain. Damn, too young. Thanks a million. mikey

Hi Mikey!
I think he rates right up there with the tortured souls, why is it that it takes such intensity to achieve that measure of creativity? This is a fantastic tribute. Being an 80's teen, all of your references rang true. I wonder if the youth of today would understand so well?
I love your format and that you portrayed him so well. The purple rain/tears at the end is a wonderful touch.
Great job!

Gee, I don't know about the torture, it sure seems to help though. This just kind of poured out. I was a huge fan and he influenced my music quite a bit. Loved Purple Rain. I imagine the youth of today are like the youth of yesterday, but no were near as cool. LOL Thanks so much Dovey, mikey

Awesome tribute to one of the great talents. He came from nothing and found his talent. His music popped in the eighties and nineties. Your endearing remarks spark memories for us who rocked out to Purple Rain. When the movie came out , my girlfriend and I went to see it. I think we were the only white chicks there.
Love your rhythm and lay out of the poem. signed ^ *-

Oh wow, you made me smile. I needed one. Yep, I was one of the few white dudes there now that you mention it and I used to get looks when I'd sing it with my group. HAHAHA!
It's such a drag when he was so young and still performing and writing new material. Thanks for such a touching and beautiful review. mikey
Comment from Gloria ....
It's always shocking when a renowned musician in our generation passes. Prince as most certainly an incredible musician and entertainer and more or less overshadowed by some of the bigger stars of the era. His music will live on for all posterity among us and our children and grandchildren.
What a lovely and most touching tribute to an amazing man, musician and performer.
Love this a lot!

Thanks, Love
I guess his age has a lot to do with it. He's still giving concerts and writing original music and then he's gone just like that. A real drag, and, yes, he does happen to be a favorite. I love singing Purple Rain. Now, I don't think I can....
Glad this worked out. Thanks so much.

Michael,
I enjoyed your tribute to Prince. Your presentation is awesome. I love the color scheme, the image, the arrangement of lines, and the best--your hear-felt message to/about/for him.
You are right in what you wrote about his uniqueness that many did not, or care to not, understand.
He was a pioneer in the music genre.
I can tell you were touched by this man, Prince.
Good job and thanks for sharing.

I really was touched by him and he influenced my music quite a bit. And, I guess, it's just sad for an artist to die so young when there is more to do. Thanks so much, mikey

You are right he was so dedicated on making the right sound for everyone that sometimes he yearned and tried too hard, but the result was now going to be lost. Everything must pass but even the greatones are missed

Hi, Barb
He was a favorite of mine. I hate it when it is way before their time. He was giving concerts and still at the top of his game. Thanks a bunch, mikey

What a beautiful tribute to a remarkable and talented artist!
I saw this typo: not the Prince of this
"of" the Prince of that. Should it be "or"?
Great job with an amzing tribute.

This is a beautiful tribute to a music icon.
I was not too familiar with his work but it is a sad loss for everyone.
Your words relay this sentiment exactly.

It's always sad when an artist dies before their work is completed. He was way to young and at the top of his game. What a wonderful response. Thanks so much, mikey
