A very long and interesting poem exposing the travesty of young male prostitution in England. It's a very sad situation and I wish it didn't have to be that way. I'm sure it's just as bad here in the States. Like you said, these kids are the ones hurt most.

Great job,
Rhonda

Wow, great write, great rhyme and a very descriptive story. Definitely a horribly grim aspect of reality but spoke of in a great way to shed some light on it.

You write some very compelling and fascinating stuff. One rarely thinks about such things associated with Victorian England but we should since the level of repression on sexual things was so oppressive during that time. Poverty always seems heavily linked to both male and female prostitution yet forget that many times the pro starts out baited and abused then tossed when no longer of interest. Nicely done and I thank you very much for sharing it.

They covered their tablelegs with ruffles so as not to offend, yet Queen Victoria was sex mad!The Victorians themselves were very sexual, but the way it was lazily hidden is the same as today.Thankyou so much for your review!xx

A very well-written poem. It is a sad poem and these acts happen still today on a much greater scale than we can imagine with boys and girls.

I can't imagine too many chose that life. It's something they may have turned to in desperation, or been forced into. I don't know what's wrong with people who think it's OK to abuse kids in that way. These pigs wouldn't be too happy if I ran the world.

As I understand it, reform school boys and runaways often chose what they believed was the lesser of two evils, remember in the workshouse and on the streets there was sexual abuse too, the way many would see it, at least this way they maintained a little control and were often paid...but just as often raped and abused then left beaten and robbed I imagine. Thanks so much for your interest xx

My God, can you write wonderfully. This is a very sad subject and done to perfection. I can't say that I know much about this, but I am a fanatic for the Jeremy Brett version of Sherlock Holmes, meaning that the setting of the Victorian ear is forefront t my imagination; more-so than most, perhaps. In my estimation, this tell the sordid truth and evokes more the setting of Oliver Twist (The Polanski version) mixed in to add more darkness for my mind's eye as I read this.
I just don't know what else to say, but that this is extremely well written. You see, I write a lot to thick, abstract things and you by your example here tell a story in a very poetic way with absolute command of English. Great work. Bruce.
