I really really loved these lyrics and would love to hear them set to music! They evoke a red hot love that just went cold and the singer/poet has no idea why. The request at the beginning for a moment of your time is one that so many lovers ask for and don't get. They never find out why their partner's love died when their's is still burning. Again, love the song and hope I get to hear it set to music someday soon.

Hi there, Alice, and welcome to Fanstory. Well, you've made a friend right off the bat. LOL
I'm just thrilled you enjoyed my song so much. I'll let you know when the music is done. You've made my day.
Thanks a million. :))

In my opinion, a song entry with lyrics that comply fully with the prompt and cannot be viewed as anything else but lyrics. The presentation is dramatic and appears to lend itself easily to country music. Best of luck in the contest...

The mattress was on fire, combusted by desire, what a great line, though all are great and this is an excellent write, and great entry into your competition, I wish you the best of luck****kahpot

I'm so pleased you liked this and singled out that line. It's fun to sing and I can't help adding an accent to it too. LOL
Thanks a million. :))

Fun sounding song. I wish you luck in the contest.
My favorite was the chorus -- catchy words:
Yeah, the bedframe (two words bed frame) was in splinters,
just kindling for the winters shiverin' cold;
and the mattress was on fire,

I thought these song lyrics were very well structured.
There is a HUGE difference between writing poetry and writing song lyrics.
Sure, it helps to have some experience with writing poetry in order to be a better lyricist. But just because someone is a good poet does not make them a good song writer.
This was excellent.
Best wishes to you in the contest.

Wonderful words to hear, Dean. Anything can be put to music, but I'm delighted you recognize these as lyrics and not just a poem. Thanks a million. :))

From the very start, your choice of art work, the chords you struck in your tale of love that has grown cold, you have artfully and poetically worded your song of heartbreak in a melody that sings out in remembered phrases.
Well done and good luck

Very well-written song lyrics that tells a story of passion and love desires that made life all worthwhile until the fire burned out and only ashes were left. Sorry it did not last.

These song lyrics for, I Told Ya So, are made for country music, as the story goes from hot sex to the end of a relationship. Sometimes it is the next unexpected thing that holds people together.

OK. I'VE LOST before I even enter this contest, so I might as well not enter. You have a standing OVATION, an applause. What an astonishing mood you were in when you wrote this poem filled with lively jumpy metaphors. "Our mattress was on fire" is simply BRILLIANT. Now go get you a RECORD PRODUCER in Memphis, TN. Seriously!$ liberty justice
