Oh my!!! This road is not a road to a particular place, such as Grandma's but a road of life, the journey we take. I enjoyed reading this contest entry and wish you the best of luck.

Absolutely! Some reviewers saw this poem as being literally a road, but you have my meaning exactly! All the best, Tony

I think this is one great poem. It is the nicest way of thinking about our passing. I get images of countryside and relaxation, instead of the heart attack race of last lfe here.
"Old Man's beard" I can remember that well. Lovely description of your journey ( long time away I hope!)
Hugs, Trisha

Which reminds me it is nearly time for my afternoon stroll. I won't be going anywhere so there is no destination. I go for the pleasure of going and view what there is to view along the way, so my feelings on this are concurrent with yours.
This poem is like my afternoon stroll a pleasant diversion from the cares and reasons of this world.

Meandering through the countryside with no fixed purpose is one of the pleasantest of occupations. However, when I lived down in Wiltshire, I did partly have in mind that there was a decent pub within a couple of miles, no matter which of the three bridle tracks I took . Our cottage was well placed! Mind you, my poem was about a rather less attractive destination, and I'm in no hurry to reach that one..
