Are You Listening?
One Line Poem: To hear is not to listen...27 total reviews

I loved the pairing of the words with the image. My take - which I realize is a very individual thing - is the frustration which comes when someone listens and understands, then refuses to take the leap to action. Again, a personal interpretation, but expresses how I feel right now, and to my mind that's what poetry does best.

Excellent thought. Took me back to my Simon and Garfunkel days and their mega hit, The Sounds of Silence. We don't need to agree but do need to listen, not just react. Hugh

There is a definite difference between hearing and listening. Too often people hear the sounds of words, but do not listen to their meaning or important. How much better would society be, if people learned to listen.

That's a really profound one-liner! We hear you, but not really. Sad situation these days with lines of communication even more blurred with devices that let the fingers do the talking. Thanks for sharing your insight.

Absolutely! I couldn't agree with you more..your picture of Listen, Understand and Act be sum it up in terms of how to affectively communicate and resolve differences...without those elements present it is just more fuel for misunderstandings.. a very thoughtful and meaningful poem..

This one-line poem, Are You Listening?, puts the onus on each reader to look within themselves and see If they are defenders or spectators............
