When Charles comes home from the pub, a little bit stung, to his surprise Kayla is on the computer on FaceTime and says she has run into Alain, he says he knows Kayla's sister, and his grandmother had sat for Toulouse-Lautrec and the result? The laundress, a painting worth a lot of money, Charles says he's coming back to Paris. He thinks he'll take up Brockenhurst's offer. Well done, Tony, blessings, Roy

I always enjoy reading your wonderful novel. This post is not exception. You tend to make sure I have more new questions that answers to my previous questions. That's actually a good thing.

Many thanks for your supportive comments and encouragement, Barbara. I appreciate the sixth star, too! It?ll be interesting to see where Brockenhurst takes this. I haven?t quite worked that out yet!

Once again I'm dropping in and can't properly follow the plot, but I short of that, there's not a thing that isn't written flawlessly. Mind you, I should warn you, I get lost in trying to sort out who is who thanks to just dropping in. (Yikes!)

Thanks. Dawn. I appreciate your taking the time to drop by. I know how difficult it can be to try to pick up the thread half way through a story. All the best, Tony.

Yes, Charles won't be able to sit quietly in Wiltshire relaxing. I'm glad
Well penned story as always. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
Yay back to Paris. I must travel there one day
God bless

Hello Tony!
"Squillions!" or "Sex-starved jack rabbit." Can't decide which if these splended words/phrases I enjoy more, but I'm leaning towards "squillions!" What a hoot!
What I so appreciate about your writing is that it must be read carefully and savored. It simply cannot just be read flippantly. Squillions of wonderfulness to be digested... :)
Thank you for sharing!

Excellent chapter, except I think you are setting us up for things to come which are as yet obscure...a necessary and usual thing with mystery stories...a US/UK slang variance...pissed is furious...

Thanks, Red. There?s a slight difference in British English. ?Pissed? is used by itself to mean inebriated and ?pissed off? means ?angry? or ?fed up?.

Back to Paris for Charles. I'm not sure this letter is worth all the trouble and danger he keeps running into. Of course, by now, he can't let it go. I love hearing about his cottage and the valley.

Thanks, Yvonne. I don?t think he?ll be able to stay there long - maybe another day or two before he?s on the trail again.

Oh-oh. I would think that the internet connection forebodes something bad could be happening to Kayla at that moment. Hope Charles gets back soon!
Minor comments:
It's one of those places (missing open quotation marks)
I had been about (Don't know if this is British English but normally, we would say, "I was about" as the perfect tense sounded odd)
