Very nice continuation of the piece here. the story continues in an intriguing manner as the plot further develops.

Yep, petty theft doesn't feel too bad in the light of a bombing.

and with thin trails of mist trailing from their breath.- maybe look at an alternative for either trails or trailing here.

The US TV crime shows suggest that all perpetrators return to the scene to admire their bomb/arson handiwork...your man had a severe lapse in judgement and narrow escape...excellent chapter...
