There is some sadness here as war changes people, we are delicate and seeing death on a daily basis and living in fear of losing your life can completely change our perspective, these are the difficulties soldiers live with when they return from battle and in your story this solider still had a connection with his daughter and eventually opened up. Very good poem it had very good rhymes and meter. It has to be so hard on families when their parent or spouse has to leave for an extended period of time like military service.
